Complicated indecipherable bills on bundles and contracts are the problem. Call me cynical but I doubt ATT is the only participant in this kind of nickel and diming.

My son bought a recent (not newest) unlocked ATT iPhone that someone was selling because they'd upgraded. He paid a hundred bucks for it. He buys unlimited talk, text and data from StraightTalk for 45 bucks a month.No bill, no contract, prepaid. It's all legit. All his apps work just fine and StraightTalk uses the Verizon network so he has great signal coverage. You can also do this with T-Mobile.

Do you get full functionality that way? You can buy a legit sim for like 15 bucks.

That was the company I tried. Depending on the area, cell signal strength varies. Sitting in my office which is in a town surrounding Milwaukee, the signal was so low I was losing half my calls. Outside, it was ok. US Cellular was great in that I can get cell phone service a level and a half below ground.

I would check out the carrier first before signing on. Don't matter how cheap it is if you cannot get calls reliably.
