Yea, after reading through that I don't have an issue with a beer during lunch. I would be concerned with the safety aspect after about two or three though. More so than a few tokes off of the evil weed. Keep in mind that having a beer during lunch, working in a production environment, is not at all as common around here than it is up north. I guess it has something to do with the busybody ppl around here that try to dictate to others how to live on their own time. There are a lot of folks around here like that.

If I drank a beer for lunch I'd need a nap. When I used to survey I hired drunks and dopers to cut survey line. One paycheck and they'd be gone. Made me a strong opponent of anybody taking anything that impairs work. Want a beer? Go home and have at it. Don't come back to work.

It’s not just the unions. My 25 years of consulting and more have shown that many enterprises at least tolerate intoxication at work in one way or another. I work mostly with some top professions.
Some enterprises encourage getting loaded. Someone I know who worked for a big cruise ship company for a number of years said that most of the top of ship officers and crew were loaded nearly constantly. We’ve all heard of airline pilots and shipping captains who are loaded. We hear about it when some of them are removed or have an accident. We never learn about the vast number who get loaded regularly. A relative was an eye surgeon and was known to drink at lunch and after. That was normal for him and many of his fellow docs. He had a great career. It’s a reflection of culture in general that getting loaded during the work day is common place among many, perhaps even most professions, even if it is an open or not so open secret. |

It's a reflection of our culture in general that people make a big deal over a drink or two.

There are not enough facts presented for you to understand what he is saying, therefore your confusion is understandable and induced.
The 'jobs reports' is easily viewed at the BLS website. There is no need to receive information on this subject through a filtered lens. |

If you're saying I couldn't understand it because the way it was stated made no sense, then I could not agree more. In fact that was my point.
Thanks!

A case of guilt by participation.
Are you aware that personal attacks are a violation of the posted rules here? Quote:
Chicago public school system remains one of the worst in the nation in terms of student performance and graduation rates. Similarly, there has been no notable improvement nationwide since he took office. Perhaps if he was concentrating on those issues instead of pushing for a “Gay Social Justice Solidarity High School” things might have turned out better. Anyway, here is one of his accomplishments: Evil Arne Duncan Drunk at Prom - NH Tea Party Coalition Quote:
If you really want to know (And I’m sure you don’t), try using that Google thingy. You just type in, like, Arne Duncan Annenberg Challenge, or Arne Duncan Mike Klonsky, or Arne Duncan Small Schools Project, or Arne Duncan Bill Ayers. You can read about it to your hearts content. Here’s a helpful hint though: Don’t just read the usual leftist horsecrap. Read other points of view as well. You might accidentally learn something. But seriously, it’s a moot point, as there seems to be no discernable difference between a modern day Demokrat Progressive and your basic garden variety Marxist. Don’t believe it? Just go to Marxist.org and see if you can find anything there that 0bama is not all about. I guarantee there won’t be much. The Lib’ruls on here were getting their panties in a wad because American patriots were using Dear Leader’s real middle name. Heinrich was Karl Marx’s middle name, so I simply substitute Dear Leader’s Marxist name for his Muslim name. Quite fitting, don’t you think?

You're darn right they do. In the ol' days of the flippy bottles, it was common to see them setting around everywhere in the shade at construction sites, awaiting break or lunch time.

There you go! Built the best cars in the world too.
![]() I'd still adhere to one only at lunch though. For myself none at lunch except on a very special occasion which might happen once a year or not. I have enough trouble staying awake on food only.
