Fox's thesis is supported by Minnesota Department of Corrections criminologist Grant Duwe, who not only says public shootings aren't increasing -- they are actually on the decline, historically speaking.

Of course, none of this will affect Sen. Feinstein's (D-CA) plan to push an assault weapons ban on "day one of Congress" next year. And that's because facts don't matter when it comes to furthering the gun-grabbing agenda of the Democrat Party.

Don't let facts get in the way of propaganda in a political fight...it will hurt someone's feelings.

Of course, once we round up and suspend all personal freedoms of all US citizens in order to test them and do a brain scan, we might as well put in tracking devices, oh and tattoo their social security number in bar code form on their forehead.
The ones that fail the scan for whatever reason can now be forced labor to build infrastructure and other projects.

In order to protect even the modernization and minor modification of your 2nd amendment rights, you are willing to give up ALL your other rights pretty willingly for some reason. Does not strike me as the brightest idea. Another push for the police state.

I'll give up everything, as long as I get to keep my bazooka.

He died with two handguns and a rifle. Whether or not he owned them is preposterously unrelated to the fact that if legislation existed that prevented his MOTHER from owning them, he wouldn't have had the kind of access to such dangerous tools that he actually did have.

Whoever owned the dam things, they were legally owned, as has been the vast majority of weapons used in mass killings. Who cares if the killers themselves actually owned the weapons or not? The law abiding citizens they stole them from would be affected by legislation, which would impact availability.

Yeah, legislation does a fine job of preventing people from possessing illegal items.

Let's take away something of somebody else's, and leave my stuff alone....

Although, in this case, I can't help but think that some of these games are actually really bad for the kids that are playing them.

You might be on to something.

Mandatory brain scan before you are permitted to own firearms or video games.

I think we have a winner.

Got it!

Murder rate of 5.0 per 100K in the general population.

Murder rate of 5.5 per 100K in the LEO population.

The conclusion is obvious: To reduce crime we should disarm LEO's.

And who decides who's a sociopath or psychopath. Ever heard of the mental hospitals during the time of the USSR, you guys are completely bonkers!

Don't trust the government to handle healthcare but...

I agree which is why I say that a gun anywhere else but on the person is useless. I'm well aware that I cannot be compared to the populace as a whole and I'm well aware that teachers, at least in elementary school are predominantly female but not all are and some are ex military. I suspect that the percentage I mentioned earlier might in fact be found who might be able to carry guns. In the district where I work I think about a sixth of the staff are men and a handful of them ex military. Also some of the women are married to spouses who hunt and they have been around guns much of there lives. I do know of one 20 something teacher who likes her guns very much.

As I said this might be different across the country as other states are not as liberal with gun culture as AZ is. But I think the real problem would likely be the opposition of the majority parents and staff who would reject the idea.

My wife teaches at an elementary school. She is gun-safe and an excellent shot. She can put 4, .38 sp in a 5 inch circle at 15 paces as fast as she can pull the trigger (it's a 5 shot pistol. Hammer on an empty cyl). She would get fired for packing.

As much as my comment was intended to be sarcastic, mandatory brain scans for video games and weapons ownership is starting to sound pretty good... a real deterrent....

What other products could we make people get brain scans for?
GM cars?
Twinkies?

God forbid, but would she hit her target when she's shot at?

cmbdiesel 12-17-2012 09:07 PM

Time for complete firearm registration.
Possessing an unregistered weapon, serious consequences, prison time.
Having your weapon used in a crime by any person and you are on the hook as well.
Accidental shootings due to negligence revokes your right to own firearms.
Sales of unregistered weapons, huge prison time.
