Merry Christmas

I'm going to wrap up some things in the office today and be out of here and mostly out of pocket until January second.

I want to wish everyone here on the Forum a very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanaka, Ramaden or just simply a Happy Holiday season, whichever is best for you.

It's been a rocky year here on the forum for me, so I offer whatever apologies might be appropriate and bid very best wishes for EVERYONE on this forum whether I've had good OR bad words with you this year.

Merry Christmas!

Yeah, I forgot about that greeting. I guess I'm wrapping things up at work for a reason other than what I thought!

Merry Christmas

Indeed, a happy holiday season to you all, regardless of what flavor it is!!

Hope this season sees you and your loved ones healthy and happy!

Txjake - right back at ya. Everyone here I include on my list of people I would drop whatever I was doing if they needed help. Again, regardless of their political leanings. We are a large and diverse family, and I like to believe that we have more in common than we have differences.

Very true.
Let me add my Merry Christmas for the few Christians here, and a Happy Holiday ( notice that is a contraction from HOLY DAY!!) to everyone else.

Sign in a local mechanic's shop:
Keep CHRIST in CHRISTMAS.
Those who do not, will not get my business.

Bold statement in these days.

Bold ? it is a holiday celebrating the birth of Jesus and that was the intention ... was it not ? I suggest it's bold to think otherwise.

You are a cultural dinosaur, like me. To the community where it was posted, I suspect it was not extremely bold. Even those who disagree would respect it. However there are places where that sign would be an invitation to ransack the shop.

Wow ! Really ? I live in the Bible Belt, even being a Roman Catholic ... no burning crosses on my front lawn yet. LOL.

Christmas was separate from the celebration of Jesus' birth. It was based on winter solstice celebrations by pagans that were later converted to Christianity.

Whatever the reason for the season, have a happy one!

True in the sense that the early Christians and Church picked a "holiday" date which coincided with pagan, Roman, and other holidays. However, CHRISTmas is the Holiday which celebrates the birth of Jesus ! So, regardless, Have a GREAT day !!!!

And not universally celebrated by all Christian traditions. The Puritans found no scriptural justification for celebrating Christmas, and actually went so far as to ban it during the brief time they controlled England. (Approx. 1625-1649, but look it up because I'm going from memory here...) This, among other things, resulted in them being run out of the country, and they emigrated to New England, where they again banned Christmas celebrations.

Regardless, everyone have a safe and joyful holiday season.
