Resurrected at the request of The Man himself.

Try to stay focused ya'll. Some postings in this thread could be construed as being trolling.

I glanced through this and now see why you pulled it. Folks have gotten off into goofyland with their comments with it.

As mentioned before, if you vote for a congressperson that runs on a platform of say stripping midgets of their rights, when it comes to pass, YOU TOO are responsible. You, thru your proxy have pushed your beliefs on someone else. Again, if it affects you, it could be said that there is a legitimate concern. So for instance, in the HOA, allowing you to park your junks in the front lawn affects my property value at sale. OTOH, your sponsoring a candidate for a HOA that isn't where you live isn't your issue, is it? In the latter case, you are meddling. In the former, you have a legitimate concern.

What you seem to be saying is that you vote someone into office to do something, he does it and you have no responsibility, is that correct?

By your definition, there is NO ONE, that I can go vote for. They all are responsible for passing a law that effects someone.

Do YOU normally vote for people with whom you do not agree on every single POSSIBLE issue that might come up for vote? If you do, how do you know what issues will come up for vote?

I will join you in thanking them, not only for putting it back up, but for spending the time that it probably took to salvage it.

Our moderators, past and present, never get the thanks they deserve. They offer their time for free and put up with us. They put in lots of work and deal with a lot of hassles with the only thing in return, is knowing that we are all able to have a forum.

Thanks!

It means you cannot shed responsibility. Choose wisely.

We are talking about what platform the guy runs on. So if the issues he says he will handle is say abortion, I am interfering in a woman's right to choose. Since it has no effect on me, I am enabling him to meddle in the woman's right to choose what she wants for her body. OTOH, if somewhere along he does something that way, I won't vote for him again. I could not foresee what he will do. But if he tells you that is what he stands for and you vote for him and he does it, you are definitely responsible in my book.

Well the first sentence looked like something we could strike up an agreement on, but then you have to get into murdering babies.

I have no problem allowing a woman to do as she wishes with HER body. I DO, however, have a problem with her MURDERING her unborn child. If defending an innocent HUMAN BEING that has no way to defend him or herself is forcing my view on others, then GUILTY AS CHARGED your honor!

Let me make it clear, that my defending of those innocent little beings has its limits. I will NOT go outside the law to do so, and I'm not one of the nuts that stalks the Planned Parenthood Murder Chambers.

Come to think of it, by YOUR definition, and your history on the abortion issue, it sounds as if YOU might be guilty of forcing your view on others as well. This boils down to nothing more than a difference of opinion as to what is right and wrong. In many cases, at least fiscally, you and I often agree on what is right and wrong, but we definitely are divided on this one.

Point is this. With abortion, what we have is an OPINION that it is a life you are taking. I am not being forced to have an abortion. I am for giving you the option to have one if you so choose. Giving you the option isn't forcing your opinion. Restricting your options is. Since I can't see how anyone is forcing you to have one against your will, it is a clear case of you meddling in someone's life when you have NO business. Again, if someone is forcing your daughter to have one against her will, I will defend her right to choose.

Giving you choice is NOT coercion or meddling. Limiting one's choices based on your opinion when it doesn't affect you is. In cases of say abortion or gays being persecuted, it is really none of your business since you are not forced to have gay sex or have an abortion. As I said, voting certain regulations in YOUR subdivision isn't because you are directly affected is one thing. Pushing for something via getting your proxy in another subdivision is. Not sure how to better explain it.

Regardless, if you vote someone in, you can't wash your hands off your proxy.

Edit: Let me put it another way. If I voted for Hitler II knowing the platform he ran on and he gets in and starts gassing Jews, what is it I can say to a Jew? "Sorry. Not me. I didn't do it. The man I voted for decided to gas you."?

You make your case well, but you seem to be ignoring that I pointed out that the unborn babies are the ones with no choice. The mother made her choice when she conceived the baby. The result of the mothers choice, the baby, is defenseless. I choose to do what I can to protect those who can not protect themselves.

This is a simple matter of different opinions.

And as said before. Before according them with full citizen rights, we need to make sure they are alive as you and I are.

Separate the fetus and show me it can pass the SAME tests that you and I can pass to be declared alive. Till then, it is a matter of opinion. If it is proved to be a living being and not have similar properties to a tumor or skin tag, your argument holds water. Till then, you cannot accord it the same rights as you and I hold. You don't get to call yourself a medical doctor before you pass the certifications, do you? Same here. Pass ALL, not select items of the same tests that we use for declaring death and I will be happy to accord you the same rights.
