There are certain parts of the world where the response would be significantly different. Latin America, for instance, where Pentecostals are replacing Catholics at an amazing rate. It looks like the victory of neo-liberalism in the Southern hemisphere, naturally expanded Protestantism.

Interesting. About a century ago, a branch of my then fresh off the boat Italian ancestors converted from RC to Pentecostal. My great grandparents were very religious. My grandparents pretty religious, my parents just slightly religious, and I've become an apathetic agnostic.

I'm not completely sure what all the differences are, but it appears that Protestantism is more compatible with capitalism than Catholicism. For one thing, Pentecostalism requires a person to make a conscious decision to join the decision. For Catholics the decision is made before a person is self-aware. This 'creates' a much stronger sense of free choice. Pentecostalism also doesn't involve an international hierarchy with centralized control. Pentecostalism does provide a better 'fix' than Catholicism. Catholicism is anti-individualist in its social philosophy.

The first Pentecostal heads of State were in South America. I admit it's a scary thought.

I would have liked to see this poll with age brackets attached. My suspicion is that a majority of those who are religious (regardless of affiliation) are older and those who are not are younger.
I wonder if any of those who said no on this survey were of religions other than Christian. I know Chilcut is not Christian but not sure if he voted or not.

I wouldn't disagree with that as a general statement but the social and personal effects of meth are different than the social and personal effects opium. It's worth knowing the differences.

From an academic standpoint, sure. Either way, it isn't good to be addicted to either especially when the mucky mucks of the religion or drug dealers decide to yank your chain a little more. Actually, maybe it is better to be addicted to opiates than religion. I see that more and more with my parents and can only hope I never become that senile or die before I do.

While I respect the people who believe Jesus of Nazareth ...is God..(because that is their belief)...I believe Jesus of Nazareth was a Prophet..nothing more..nothing less. Why? Rational and Cosmic evidence of the Creator shows that He is the one. "No son did Allah beget, nor is there any God along with Him: (if there were many Gods), each God would have taken away what He had created, and some would have lorded over others". Since the existance of more than one God implies imperfection such as impotence, deficiency, and being created, the Creators oneness is a must. According to Islam the biggest sins include not acknowledging God, associateing partners in His Personage, Attributes, or Acts, and dareing to attribute divinity to anything other to Him. This sin is called "polytheism:associateing partners".
