Pooka, the American Dream Lab is part of the studio near DFW.

No, he said they are working on a new type of energy generation for private use that could take you off the grid for self sufficiency.

And that deprogramming stuff was with a note of sarcasm.

The city you refer to will be called Independence USA.

Finally, some real answers.

By the way, self provided energy has been a goal of many people. The only problem it faces is an economy of scale.

Also, in Texas, if you are going to set up a system like this to power more than one home you need the permission of the Texas utilities Commission and you must also be able to survive any challenge from established power companies that are considered public utilities.

The market for electricity in Texas is unregulated. The generation of electricity is not.

This is usually good for a four or five year legal battle. Beck might be wise to take an option on the land and then start seeking approval for his 'new source of energy'. If it makes electricity in Texas that is meant for more than one home or business he will need a permit from the State AND be able to prove in Court that it will not disrupt the power grid.

He can produce all the power he wants if he is willing to sell it to the local utility company at wholesale rates. This is what oil refineries do with the power they create from waste heat.

Now he may be betting on the Texas Ledge giving him a pass on all of this since Texas is a Conservative Paradise, but if so he is expecting a lot from people who are currently in the back pocket of the Electric Utility companies.

This will be interesting to watch.

He's figured out how to capture radiation generated by the overheated little brains of his followers. Burning hair is a renewable resource.

Can someone tell me why anyone bothers to listen to that guy? Or any of the "Talking Heads"? Seriously, if it wasn't for some leftie (forgot whom), I wouldn't even have heard of him. Besides bad manners for not thanking that leftie for spreading his name, why else would I want to listen to him or Rush or any of those wonderful personalities? Same as NPR where their programming seems to have a leftward leaning slant. Why would I take any of them seriously?

If I can't trust your reporting to simply give the facts and let me decide and instead give me the facts that are slanted to your audience and income, why should I take you seriously? Isn't it akin to relying on the word of a Used Car Salesman as to where the best buy is? Sure, what he says makes sense and might be the truth. But all he tells me is NOT the whole truth, why would I rely on what he has to say as gospel truth?

You would be wrong. Word has it, he picked up where Fleischmann and Pons left off. I know I am right because I know a girl whose boyfriend's sibling met a man who knew the guy whose brother heard it from Beck himself.

The most logical statement yet.
