When shopping for my 420SEL I came accross a 560SEL with cloth interior. Surprisingly, this "Velore" option was more expensive than the leather option when new.

It's actually kinda cool (the parking brake release). I think all you have to do is pull it a bit and twist it.. or maybe just twist it and it'll release itself.
To apply the brake..well you pull it.

I dunno. Give me the Diesel starter brake release of the W108 and W109 any day. In fact, I'll take the whole car

Parking brake

The parking brake is real easy to use as Holson Adi states it's just pull and twist same as my 300D.You guys are obviously surprised at this,I know there are differences between UK and US models but I didn't think this was one of them.So whats the crack for applying the parking break over there?Bear

The release is just a small flip lever on the left by the door. How hard is it to drive a stick with your left hand? the little white spot under the headights switch

There's a pedal against the kick panel to engage the park brake. Been that way on US MBs at least as far back as the W108s. I know the Adenauers had a hand lever under the dash.

I suppose that's a trivial difference compared to steering wheel placement

Having always driven righthand drive cars I don't find changing gear a problem at all. However it wouldn't bother me to drive a lefthander if I was on the continent. The scary thing is when my mate comes over from Belgium, and offers to drive to the pub. He's an ex-pat and thinks nothing of overtaking on our righthand side roads in his lefthand drive Citreon, believe me as a passenger thats scary!
Thanks for putting me in the picture re the parking brake(handbrake.)Bear
