incredible
bloody flitsers. All the drugs you want, but 4 km/h and you go to jail, insane. Can't we get a country in this world that isn't morally bankrupt in some way? |

Wouldn't that small of an amount be considered acceptable variation in the speedo?
Never heard of a speeding ticket for any less than 5.

any ticket except for overtime parking here starts around $185. $45 is like 1980 prices.

Never got a moving ticket in NY, but under $100 for minor speeding isn't unusual in NJ. What really gets you is being raped by the insurapigs for points on your license.

I just came back from Australia a couple months ago. Got a ticket from a speed cam - $300 for going 5 mph over the speed limit...

I was once cited for 37 in a 35 mph zone. Little town on the way back from a ski trip. Speed trap and revenue enhancement.
Some cops really are pigs. |

if it's worth fighting, there's all sorts of info online leading to actual studies showing what the error of margin on a radar/laser gun is. Go court, demand to see calibration records, purchase dates, maintenance records, etc...If it's in an larger municipality, they are liable to drop everything. If it's out in Podunk with Barney and the Judge being brothers...pay the fine and move on. Contact your insurance and see if the small amount is going to hurt your premium.

Join the club.
Was it one of those stupid wheelie bins with a camera hidden in it?

All tickets are handled by a central bureau. They handle over 10million tickets every year (a lot for a population of 17.7million). There is a law to make this efficient, if you fight the fine and go to court it will be much higher if you lose. It is very hard to win, since you have to prove you didn’t speed. Luckily it has no consequences for the insurance, also we have no point system for licences (only for the first 5 years you have your licence). Rob |

You are close but you left out the part where they bribe YOU. I got one for 70 in a 60 about 5 years ago and the trooper comes right out and says $125 if you plead guilty and pay the fine or send in $210 and it won't show up on your driving record if your good for one year.
