are you just checking in? Bloomburg has been at this for years. This is I think number 8 on controversial initiatives

Before The Ban On Sugary Drinks: 7 Other Controversial Mayor Bloomberg Initiatives - Forbes

On some I am lukewarm, on some I think hes off his nut, this sugary soda thing is one of them. On the other hand, I like the hybrid initiative, though I miss the old crown vics which were generally more comfortable IMO, though I in turn missed the old yellow cabs, which I liked way more than the crown vics, so you get used to anything over time.

Id love to see someone introduce an old yellow cab with a hybrid engine personally.

Freedom is all relative; how much freedom has a person that weights 300 pounds?

Answer: Only as much as YOU will allow them to have.

I'm appalled seeing overweight people all over the place, but they do have the right to be that way. A dildo like Bloomberg has no right to dictate what is good or bad for them.

You think your choices are freedom, I think being able to move freely in good health is freedom. In our modern marketing/capitalist based society our choices have nothing to do with freedom, the choices we think we make ar pushed on us.

Drinking multiple sodas a day, smoking or drinking excessive deprives you from your freedoms. Bloomberg is a modern freedom fighter

Depends, if you're 6'6" 300# really isn't that heavy.

The point is that NY is dipping too much into people's business. If they're serious about it then regulate HFCS like alcohol or tobacco.

im for education vs banning of things like sugary drinks. Teach people whats bad and good about what they eat, don't tell them they can't have it.
Freedom of choice is a freedom id like to preserve.

As far as foods, it seems to me that moderation of intake and education of the benefits and detriments of different choices is more effective.

If he wants to ban something, he should ban potential or existing franchise opportunites for fast food places in city schools instead. The schools should be providing a healthy balanced diet and exercise regimen that actually correlate to each other, not optional sports, 15 minutes of PE every other day, and the opportunity to eat 5 buckets of fried chicken per day.

Thats a trend I wouldn't mind seeing banned personally

I'm 6'1" and 300Lbs.... I dare any of you to infringe on my freedom based on my weight. I don't drink soda on a regular basis... not that I don't drink it, but its like liquid candy, it should be a treat not a daily staple. But if y'all wanna drink it in lieu of water thats your choice... I'm still trying to grasp why my large water drinking a$$ should have less freedom then you soda drinking, pizza eating high metabolism mother truckers.

Next the government will be restricting the use of heroin, or my God-given right to drink a fifth of Jack Daniels and hop into a Trans-Am and blindly plow into a school bus. When will all this intrusiveness into my personal life end?

Yes it is, it's 100 to 130 pounds overweight. A 6.6FT 300 pound guy will have health problems because of his weight and with it taking his freedom away.

At 6'6" and 170 lbs, he'll look like a resident of Haiti.

The word is out about HFCS. It's BAD for you. It's in a lot of foods. If the GOV is gonna regulate something, this would be my 1st choice.
Go back to sugar! Less bad for you.

What? And deprive me of my right to weigh 350 lbs. and prematurely drop dead? Next the government will ban the use of known carcinogenic additives in our food supply if we're not careful.
