This is Boston you're talking about. Most of the people with the heavy artillery likely don't have permits.

What a nation of laws does not need is vigilantism. A bunch of untrained, armed citizens wandering the streets looking for perps would have inevitably resulted in a lot of dead people. Hell, they'd have been shooting each other -- "Look a guy with an AK, git'im!"

I'll bet a yankee dime that everybody who had a gun and was hunkered down at home had that gun nearby. No ferking politician would need to tell me that!

Just because a crime takes place in a neighborhood doesn't give the police the right to kick in and enter every door in that neighborhood.

Also the lock down was not needed, a standard police manhunt would have dragged him up. These guys were no worse than the robbers who shot up the cops in LA a decade ago with AK47's and they were brought down after a bit of trouble with a standard police response.

Liberties are worth more than catching one criminal or temporary safety.

I can see it now. Every DB in the town would be getting hit like flies with a swatter. One way to clean up the town. ~ "I thought he looked like the suspect !"

I think Jim may be just stirring the pot!!

The people employ the police because only the police are trained and equipped to provide security for the people.

I wonder, was L.A. locked down when the cop/ex-Marine that went apeshizzle was on the loose?

It appears that is so now but at first they did not really know if the perps were associated with a larger group. Did they kick down every door in the neighborhood?

If I saw them coming, best unlock the door, put the kettle on, put a plate of biscuits on the table & ask nicely how they like their tea !!
These guys were risking their live to keep decent citizens safe.
They deserve all the public support & cooperation possible.
Those who are stupid enough to criticise their actions would be the first to cry that not enough was being done if one of their family members were taken hostage by the low life.

That would make too much sense.

A couple of those who have been posting on this thread from NY would have had something to complain about if they locked down NY !!

I have tried to imagine what I would do in an instance like this.

Actually I had something happen which was slightly similar. One day apparently there was a 911 call sent from my house by accident. A couple of police showed up at my front door. I told them it must have been an accident because there was no emergency. When they seemed reluctant to accept my word I invited them in to have a look around. They declined.

So in the end I have to agree with Layback on this matter.

come on in and have a look if you like....I have nothing to hide.
