My first car was a 1973 Chrysler Newport. Ride quality was insanely great, among the best I've ever experienced (his '75 Imperial was about the same). However, handling, braking, and acceleration were poop. My dad bought it used in the late 80's for $700 and sold it to me for $1. It also got 11.5 mpg under my leaden right foot. Finding one in running order these days might be a bit of a problem.

I do hope quality is back. Many W140's have tempted me, but then my back account says "NO". I spoke with a man this past Sunday. He has a 2007 S550 4Matic AMG with about 140K on it. He told me beside oil changes and brakes he has not spent any money on repairs.
