Goodbye to Michele Bachmann.....

Or perhaps it is hello new Fox contributor?

Whatever, I wish her luck in her new endeavors since she has decided to not try to renew her day job.

Perhaps she is facing expulsion from the House due to her ethics violations and figures that this will stop them from going forward?

Conservatives always start a statement they have no facts on with 'Could it be...' or 'I chose to think.....' but I like using the word 'Perhaps'.

But that's just me.

Good riddance from this conservative.

She has a large family to support. Perhaps she will return to Tax Lawyering....where the real money is.....

I'm no fan of hers, or anyone else who runs for president with zeee-row chance of winning....or gaining more than 6% name recognition.
As for the rest.....background chatter for the homefolk.... just like your rep. & mine. Life goes on. Gridlock.

Too bad Ted Kennedy is still not with us. I would go get him a 1968 Old Delta 88 and ask him to give her a ride over a bridge..........

Wait! All is not lost!

She has announced she is leaving the door open for any offers that might come her way, so her rambling stream of words and jumbled thoughts may be with us for years to come.

It will be interesting to see how she performs on the Fundraising Speaker trail. Fellow right wingers need to make their reservations now since nobody can bring it home to the masses that while none of what she says has any truth to it she sure looks good saying it.

Palin is claiming to knock down $100,000 for a 22 minute speech where all she says is Obama is destroying the country over and over. I guess Mooshell (oops, that spelling of the name 'Michele' is already in use by right wingers) just could not pass up that kind of money.

Uh.....

You do know that was 44 years ago don't you? It has sort of lost its' punch with the voters. The only folks that seems to resonate with are old and dying off, so it is not much of a rallying cry.

It is sort of like bringing up Warren G. Harding and Herbert Hoover who, by pushing Republican economic theories for 12 years, destroyed the US economy and much of the world's economy in 1929. Say... Did you know that in Texas the Conservatives tried to get any mention of the causes of the Great Depression removed from history textbooks? I guess they don't consider that one of their greater achievements.

The only good thing the Harding/Hoover administrations seems to have done is give folks a chance to say, "Well, at least Bush did less harm to the economy than Harding and Hoover."

I'm sure there's a way to line up dominos to link Ted's driving off the bridge with the state of the Union today.

I'll tip the first one over....

If Ted hadn't run off the bridge, he might have won the Democratic Nomination in 1980, instead of Jimmy Carter and become president, instead of Ronald Reagan. We'd all be wearing Cameltoe, I mean Camelot, Tee Shirts.

First Palin, now her...'tis a sad day for America - all the champions for morality are slowly giving in to the liberal anti-Christs - the rapture must be closer than we think.

I for one will drown my sorrows with a peg of ye 'ol scotch and keep replaying this video...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLPgTbltFn0

I don't know....

I do remember that inflation was raging under Carter. It started under Nixon, but everyone just figured it was due to the Fed creating more money to pay for the Viet-Nam war and that it would sort of take care of its' self.

Then Ford took over and started the WIN (Whip Inflation Now) thing and that did no good at all.

Then Carter was elected and inflation went crazy and the borrowing rate on home loans went as high as 23% for a few days. But it was around 18% for a few years and it was killing the housing industry which was killing the economy.

Reagan was elected by about 92% of the electoral votes because everyone thought Ronnie, who had been running political commentary bits on radio for a few years, had some answers. He did get inflation down, but only through the Fed contracting the money supply and causing one of the sharpest recessions in US history. Unemployment went way up, but inflation was finally under control.

Ted ran a so-so campaign. I don't remember anyone considering him a serious threat to Carter or Reagan. He just did not have to seem anything going for him except that he was a Kennedy. A lot was made about his 'accident' at the time, but I don't know anyone who's vote was swayed by it.

He was just a 'vote for me' and 'I am a Kennedy' and that was about it. There was just no reason beyond that to pay any attention to him.

Pretty accurate summation, but Chappaquidick was a noose around his neck. Not so much by Carter, as I recall, but it was painted as a character flaw he couldn't overcome.
Was the WIN effort anything more than a pin?
Well, we survived.

I'm pretty sure there are no un-made up minds about Teddy and Chappaquiddick, or however it's spelt.

At the time I thought that Carter did not make more of it because it would have just looked like Carter was piling on Kennedy due to personal reasons and not reasons having to do with his ability to lead the country.

But there was no way for Ted to make it sound like an accomplishment. It was a perfect storm of personal flaws. Drinking, womanizing, lying, etc...... all rolled into one event.
