Nope. 99% of software written for Intel will run in Mountain Lion. Old software written for Power PC and run in emulation mode on previous OS versions will not work. Actually, it won't work in Lion either, so you're stuck with 10.6 if you need it (not that there's anything wrong with 10.6, perfectly usable OS).

1. MAC 10
2. Mac & Cheese
3. Chili Mac

should do just fine. I'd suggest .45 ACP for the MAC 10 as an operating system.

I thought he was still using power PCs, not an Intell processor MAC.

Rule #22 - on Peachparts everything leads to guns or food eventually.

Another vote for a Mac Mini. Having the flexibility to chose monitor(s) and accessories versus the "all in one" iMac desktop is a factor. Non-Apple monitors are plentiful and inexpensive. Portability is another plus for the Mini.

I vote for 1 of the machines to be a MacBook Pro.

Plenty powerful for most anything you will do, and the ability to be mobile make it priceless.

Imagine trying to "fence" a G4 or G5 based Mac . . . or even a CoreDuo . . I've been watching the prices on used Xenon Power Macs plummet over the past year, even before the new machine was introduced.

They were, A friend of mine in Fla., gave me his old ones. I'm just tired of fighting the old computers.
