Not necessarily more laws, just better ones. We criminalize some things, or over criminalize them, for no particular purpose and yet manipulators of our economy, people who wreak economic havoc throughout our society, get great big bonuses. We need to legalize some things and criminalize others.

Okay bot, you win. Lets just repeal all the laws today. EVERY law inhibits someone. It's not fair to keep that poor guy from robbing a bank. He wants money. It's not fair to keep him from having the money he wants. Putting him in jail will not cure him of his desire for m

If that's what you think I was arguing then either my writing style lacks precision or you extrapolate from what I wrote beyond reason.

I'll make it shorter: Laws that have no moral foundation are doomed to failure.

Drug laws have lost most of their moral foundation as our culture evolved.

To continue enforcing laws that are held in low moral regard is to undermine the rule of law. When we see that tax cheats don't get caught; wealthy people get sentenced to country club prisons; politicians retire to wealth and practically everybody breaks the sped limit, these are all symptoms of the same problem -- a government saddled with enforcing laws people hate.

This hatred drips from the skeleton of morality long dead and pours its putrefaction on all of society.

Ditto what Botnst said.

One reason our criminal justice system has become so worthless is the lack of a constituency in favor of moderation and reason when it comes to rooting out and punishing crime. People don't get elected these days by campaigning against so-called law and order.

Precisely correct, and as usual, well stated so that anybody at all could understand.

Though the last sentence seems a bit florid, to me at least.

Whether something is good, or bad is not relevant in determining its Constitutionality.
The President may act like a benevolent dictator--giving away $millions to the poor--but he lacks the authority to do so. Even if he cured cancer by Executive Order, it would be wrong. He is the administrator of laws passed by Congress.

I don't have evidence or solid info one way or the other about it. I do suspect that some unknown number of businesses try to skirt the regs.
