what do you think of this 944?

says cooling system needs attention. not sure if he means a HG.

Porsche 944 classic, 1985 1/2

$2k. looks nice.

That is about 1000 too high. Most likely means headgasket and since it has been sitting so long, fuel system needs to be gone through too. Plus that it is one owner, but unless you get it cheap, no good deal.

Throw in a Haynes manual? WOW! That has to be worth something when I am packing something to ship.

Mothballed? What are we talking about? A USN Battleship?

I wouldn't pay more than $500 for that. Cooling system "needs attention" and hasn't run since 02?

ok. i just heard back from the owner. so according to him, coolant started leaking after the quick oil change placed did a flush.

he says he can no longer work on the car. he gets dizzy when he lies on his back.

I am going to offer $500. you never know. he might just be desperate enough. at that price, even if it is a dud, i can get some money back in scrap.

thanks for all the tips guys.

Just say Noooooooo

Just like a MB, the most expensive Porsche’s are the least expensive to buy.

IIRC the 944 has the same type of plastic radiator that the 928 series had. My 928 cost about $1200 to replace the radiator, not counting the water pump which was recommended to be replaced at the same time.....

Raise the rear hatch and pull back the carpet a bit. You will then find a sticker that will have all the option codes on it.

Take a photo of the sticker and then look up the options on line. If it has a limited slip then the transaxle is worth about $500. The only problem then is that it is a very big deal to remove.

It might also have adjustable front springs and the welded steel exhaust manifold. Those you could see with your eyes, and they are worth about $300 together.

Absent those you are just looking at a parts car.

Doesn't this car have a torque tube setup that makes a clutch change a dizzying experience?

It might have to be not only towed there but towed during the race.

They are fun to drive, but I hear that they are a PITA to work on.
