Finally starting to get things dialed in.

We were messing with the car, and verified the secondaries were opening. We were still seeing a sputter around 1500-1700 rpms, and were scratching our heads. Car died, and wouldn't start back up... Threw a charger with a high boost mode onto it, and got her to fire back up. While she was still attached to the charger, we played with it some more, and the hesitation went away... -_-

Scratching our heads, the only thing we could think of is that the alternator isn't generating enough power, and the battery is weak. We have a new alternator and battery on order - to be picked up tomorrow. Hopefully this fixes the issue!

thats odd because usually the booster mode only supplies power when it sees a huge draw. holley carbs can be some of the biggest pain in the ass carbs to get setup, but once dialed in, theyre every bit as good as fuel injection.

Didn't you say you put a cam in it? You may need to swap to a different power valve

.....A big cam will play havoc with anything operated by vacuum on a carb.....such as the secondary opening and some of the idle circuits.

Can you put a vacuum inducer in the system? Maybe a vacuum pump?

Dunno. In a carb the vacuum is used because it changes with engine rpm and need for fuel, so a vacuum inducer would have to mimic that behavior.

Have you pulled your plugs to 'take readings' yet?

Rich is safer than lean, but rich can add carbon deposits, foul plugs, and allow fuel into your crank case.

I only know junky motorcycle carbs, so I can't help you beyond that.
