Huh?

Is your point then that there are things which distinguish me from another group?

I'm failing to see how I can be accurately classified as a Fundamentalist if I only partially meet some of the criteria, and only because you say so.

I think your label has been shown, quite well in fact, to be inaccurate.

Yeah, that's right. Throughout this whole discussion I've said that you're a fundamentalist because I say so.

I think your a fundamentalist because you meet enough of the criteria to be distinguished from the average evangelical. Many evangelicals in general fall into the fundamentalist camp and you're one of them.

FUNdamentalism starts with FUN. Too bad it deviates so far, so quickly and so enthusiastically. I should probably go live with Amish.

I wasn't going to do this, but since this thread has dragged on, I'll break out my trusty American Heretic's Dictionary:

Quote:
FUNDAMENTALIST, n. One in whom something is fundamentally wrong, most commonly lack of reasoning ability and vicious intolerance toward those not sharing the fundamentalist's delusions. Thus, fundamentalists are especially intolerant of those able to draw obvious conclusions from observed facts, those who refuse to seek shelter in comforting falsehoods, and those who wish to lead their own lives. Members of the fundamentalist subspecies known as "Slack-Jawed Drooling Idiots" have been known to give so much of their income to "electronic churches" that they subsist on Alpo at the end of the month. In herds, fundamentalists are as useful to society as wandering bands of machete-brandishing baboons.

Liked that so much, I just ordered the book. $4 is a small price to pay for such a tome of wisdom.

I have to wonder why your opinion carries so much weight.

And I have to wonder why the least common denominators among Fundamentalists don't all have to be met for one to be called one. It seems to me that you don't quite understand the criteria, have never met the "average evangelical", and if the criteria were level at you with the same amount of attention to detail as you've applied to me.... then you'd be labeled a Fundamentalist as well.

Good day.

Now you're changing the argument.

You first stated that anyone who claims to be a Christian is a Christian. My counterargument was that no, that's not true, it is what someone believes about Christ which makes them a Christian.

The argument was over whether self profession or theology was the determining factor. If you want to start a new discussion that's fine, but you need to make a decision first.
