If you're over .1% and get an actual DWI, you are totally and completely f'ed. You'd need to take a second mortgage on your house to pay all the fees involved and the insurance company will send you to the assigned risk pool in a NY minute.

This is correct.

In CT if you get pulled over for a DUI you have two options neither are good.

If you think you are on the edge you refuse the field tests and get a blood test. This takes a few hours so in theory if your liver works you might be good. Your going to jail for the night but a good attorney will correct it in short order as long as you are below .08.

If OTOH you know your totally drunk and screwed refuse and than STFU and sit tight, your first call after you get out of jail is to a DUI attorney. You will be screwed but its cheaper than an actual DUI/DWI.

Only time you blow for a cop or walk a line is if you know 110% you are sober.

This weekend I'm going to buy a 12 pack of Coors Light and equate Coors to BAC should be a fun and interesting night.

I believe knowledge is power and I want accurate results which is why I bought pretty much a LEO grade breathalyzer.

As long as you realize that little Made In China trinket is totally unreliable re: readings - you'll be just fine.

What matters is what the LE's readings are.

I went with option #3, and just don't drink. Period. I quit nearly ten years ago now, I was heading down a bad path and decided to just stop. Alcohol has zero medical benefits (aside from some might help items), impairs your judgement, and generally leaves you feeling like crap so you need to drink more the next day to feel a bit closer to normal- IMO they should have left that on prohibition and let people have their weed. More money to be made in something people can't just grow themselves though.

The one problem with "blowing for accuracy" is that IF you happen to *Urp* just prior to blowing, your number is going to knock down an elephant.

That's part of the reason everyone seems to like the idea of a needle.

You can't 'f' up the stick. Unless you are a hemophiliac. I'm not sure how that little "issue" is handled.

But then, if you're a hemophiliac, isn't drinking alcohol a bit "self-defeating" in the survival-of-the-fittest social circles anyways?

Oh well, no drinks = sober.

Now, about the person weaving on the road 'cause his/her diabetes is acting up...

Making your own beer is easy, and you can make it whatever strength you wish.
I routinely brew lower alcohol beers because I like beer, but I don't necessarily want to get tanked after having a few.

there is a joke going on only it isn't really THAT funny, just sort of funny....kinda like the one who started with it........they need to go to comedy school to learn how to deliver the "punch" line......

Here's the graph from last weekend. I got behind the wheel around midnight at around .04 BAC and dropping. At that point, I honestly feel drowsiness is a bigger risk than alcohol impaired coordination. I had a 100 mile drive home. Ten minutes into the drive, I stopped at Waffle House and had a bowl of chile and a grilled cheese washed down with a Diet Coke. The biggest driving issue then transitioned to having to pee after 1 AM while cruising down a deserted interstate.

Long distance stuff like that I don't drink. Last wedding I went to I had maybe two drinks because it was a 200 mile ride home, and drinking makes me sleepy.
