They may not be in common 'usage', but a lot of folks own them and enjoy shooting them at the range. Lawyers love laws that hinge on one or two words so I would think a lot of them will be watching this as it unfolds.

If the NRA has a case going I can see why the ACLU is not on this. Too many cooks spoil the broth, and there would be little expertise the ACLU could add to the NRA in this area.

Wish we could ask Roger Sherman is thoughts on the matter. Suspect he would not look with favor on the anti gun plans. He had a bit of experience with that sort of thing.

The CCDL started the lawsuit and the NRA threw their weight and ($$$) behind it because they feel it has a decent shot.

A lot of the dem lawyers in Hartford that rammed this bill threw are watching this lawsuit closely as well.

If it goes threw than pretty much the NRA will start going from state to state like they did with carry and overturn state laws one after another.

We can only hope!

One in ten develop a mental disorder at sometime in their lifetime. It helps police if they can look at their computor and see if the individual has guns. Especially before entering the house.

Issuing threats for example can bring a confiscation order down in Canada. I do not believe there was any reduction in violence when we in Canada had a gun registration law.

In fact with the growth of the drug industry out there. Probably more events occured. If there is a registration fee consider it more of a tax as we did during the years it was in force. Stiff penalties went along with not securing the guns properly and are still in effect.

If a registered gun is used in a crime they will make the real owner of the gun somewhat liable. The point in general remains that in general it will not slow down violent acts with guns.

Yeah, the state is pretty & all, but its politics are enough to make one want to move. I only live here because I have to.

There is no such thing as a law abiding citizen; with 22.000+ different laws every single US citizen over 18 years old is guilty of something.

Currently the way our justice system is set up, only the uber wealthy are true "law abiding" citizens. It certainly helps to have droves of lawyers that can manuever you out of any legal technicality.

This government, like most, will capitulate to the common denominator. Furthermore, it is their extreme desire that any and all weapons be eliminated from the population. They wish to leverage power away from the citizens and more toward their privileged friends. Thankfully, most of their efforts have been thwarted and the capability of taking guns away from law abiding citizens has been thoroughly stopped by the House. This government is societal cancer that is slowly destroying its host.

Eliminating guns isn't going to happen. Nobody's even going to seriously try. Too many Americans own too many guns, and some of us are batshlt crazy.

Well they are going for that and a lot of places make it very difficult to own guns.

NYC has a defacto firearms ban, and pretty much just ignore the rest of the state. Unless your wealthy of course, than you and your body guards can carry firearms in the city.

Whenever people ask me why I moved to WA, I tell them it's not CT. Ten years ago it was because of the taxes, this just shows I made the right decision.

So glad I live in FL and not CT. We moved here in 2000 and I'm pretty happy with our gun laws. Hatty, you sure you didn't have a boating accident last week and all of your firearms and magazines fell overboard...
