IIRC the Supreme's said that state & local registration was ok but a ban was not. Is that right?

Yes, it took me too long to come up with my response.

Of course the population in Canada at best is only a tenth of America. We have far less large cities. Still the vast majority of Canadians live in those cities. Four million in the greater Toronto area alone.

The thrust of the Canadian government in general is to still increase the population. Reflects the desire for a larger tax base I suspect. Plus to compensate for the ever larger growth of the aging population.

Primarily gun violence is confined to the young in the larger cities currently. Drug related is the probable causative. Pistols are very illegal here in general but those young guys seem to have no trouble getting them.

At this time of year the southern United States looks very attractive.

Yes, we've noticed.

Peter, if anyone ever asks why you have 32 . . . just tell them "Easy, I had 31 and got another."

I like that. I will use it. Actually I was discussing this with a colleague the other day and realized, you know what? Why stop at 32? I think 100 is a nice round number.

Take some Americans. Please!

That's certainly an issue with scripting new gun laws. The people that we really don't want to have guns, don't seem to have much trouble getting them anyway. By their very criminal nature, they don't care if they get them through illegal channels. They're going to be doing illegal things with them.

I'm indifferent to the cold but I dislike the heat.

Americans used to be able to "go west" to be free and independent. I suppose a bit of that is still true, but for how long.

My sympathies. You could of course relocate to Arizona. Won't have much an issue with that kind of crap here for the forseeable future I think. I'm almost reaching a point where I have too many. Is 32 too much?

Ah hell, who and I kidding. I'm going to swing by Cabelas again today, just to look see of course...

I feel like I just betrayed what our Founding Fathers fought so hard for. But sadly our government in Hartford is pretty much fascist. The only reason they are in power is because of the liberal elite in Fairfield county, and all the poor people in the cities.

The plus is that in a few years I'll build a house in NH, transfer citizenship to a free state, and see ya CT. I can also continue my collecting since you can't buy anything worthwhile in CT anymore other than a deer rifle.
I'm sorry to hear this has happened to you and the other law abiding legal gun owners of your state. It breaks my heart knowing that liberties are being taken away in the name of security. Rest assured that there are many other states to move, live and prosper in...states with freedoms greater than your current locale.

I will mourn your loss this week by going to the range and firing my pistols and rifles with high capacity magazines that are not held to those stupid laws.

All laws like that do is cause law abiding citizens to jump through more hoops to legally own a firearm. I seriously doubt that this will do anything to stem violent crimes.

I'm going to look at 10.5 inch Redhawk here in a bit, but am wondering, what would happen if you just "forgot" to register?
