Did A Minor Griswolding On The Old House

I usually get carried away but showed some moderation this year.

House was built in 1876.

Beautiful and tasteful. Not a Griswold at all. Got any spooks?

Cool house.....is there an explanation of why the window decoration carvings are so different between the main gable and the dormers?

Nice lights but shipping in all that fake snow seems a bit over the top to me

Tom I suspect if you examine the relative angles and size. It may have made the higher one quite awkward or may have not looked right. The truth is I do not know but that was my initial suspicion.

It looks generally that the whole house was built at the same time . Although this too could be in error. The brickwork appears to have held held up very well too. Probably has a very good early foundation. A lot of early housing in the rural areas of Ontario where very well built. So time has treated them well.

The house was restored 20 years ago and the dormer trim was possibly added then as was the new addition at the back and the breezeway to the coach house.
The walls are double bricked as I found out when installing a natural gas line for a fireplace insert. Had to borrow a 18" drill bit.

Marvelous! I had iron fireplace inserts and covers very similar to those in my old house which was demolished last year. Buckeye brand, IIRC.

Thanks so much for sharing your lovely home with us!

Looks great to me, X!

I gave up after setting up my flagpole tree and throwing some candles in the windows.

We use the same commercial constant inflating eight foot high santa clause year after year. The fire marshall banned its use inside a large supermarket.

When the wind blows it appears animated. Arms move around etc. Plus the average assortment of lights.

I keep telling myself that santa should be up on the roof but he never arrives there so far. He was fabricated in north America of a heavy rubberized fabric but has a slight European cast in his appearance. One of these years the constant inflation blower will fail.

I appreciated seeing the additional photos of the posters house as well. Those bricks already may have been sealed. If not I would consider doing it.

Just preserves them with no visable change. I just use a garden sprayer to apply a water repellant sealant even on new bricks.

Happy new year and it has been years since I have been up through your area.

I also added some festive lights to the driveway at the back on my W123 wagon.
