So do YOU have a better explanation for 15 minutes of Justin Bieber on CNN?

Easy answer, his ridiculous antics are newsworthy, people love to hate, and hate to love the little SOB. for better or worse, hes a story.

He makes good copy for all those people, a 15 minute segment on him strikes me as about average for a 24/7 news channel trying to fill the day (Although 15 minutes is awful long, id say 5 is plenty). Even with everything in the world going on, that level of on air coverage will produce fluff pieces to fill out the entire day, past the actual newsworthy news.

Same reason the local news this morning spent 10 minutes discussing what the today show this morning spent 10 minutes doing- talking to some shmo who is trying to beat Ellen's retweet record, as if that were something anyone, anywhere cares about. Instead of the conspiracies you constantly see, try thinking about how these people have to sometimes scrape the barrel to keep the news running. Beiber is an easy go to, I saw something that was making fun of his tattoos recently, again, hes an easy news target because he evokes some kind of emotion in most people. be it rage for most adults, or adoration if you are a 13 year old girl
