Thanks for the tip. Clearly a good thing that MB still offers factory warranty for some of their used cars.

While I never drove a Prius, i have come to loathe the way most Toyota drivers drive too slowly; usually in the left lane.

Absolutely, when the US came up with tough standards for fuel economy in the late 70's, Mercedes came up with all the innovations in the W201.

The problem with the E250 is its not an E63 AMG.

I couldn't spend $52k on a new one without casting an eye towards a used AMG.

Fuels cheap.

But not those whiz bang AMG suspension systems when they are out of warranty. There's no shortage of shockingly inexpensive relatively late model AMG cars on the market, mainly due to the staggering cost of looming maintenance.

If it were simple, everyone would do it. I believe you have to find a way of telling the computers in the car that the suspension is fine. The way that the new Mercedes systems are designed, I wouldn't be surprised if the Airmatic suspension system "talks" to the audio system to smooth out the bass pulses from the speakers.

Modern cars are only "scary and complex" if you are unwilling to learn the skills to work on them. I for one am finding these modern machines not all that scary. I've now worked on two different W210's and they aren't that bad....if not better, than the old ones. My TDI is saddled with stupid emissions equipment which can disappear in a few years when the warranty is gone...if I keep it that long...its just not a MB. It is still a nice car though, the torque pull from 1700 to 2800rpm is a lot of fun.

Nice option, but I think all modern AMG have Active Body Control. I see that Arnott rebuilds and sells the cores they take in.

A W210 is ancient. The gap between a W210 and a W213 is massive.

Your W210 has normal suspension, not active suspension that has to talk to the rest of the systems on the car, and especially not things like night vision, MAGIC body control, active lane assist, radar cruise control...the list goes on...

The difference is almost at big as between the W123 and the W210. I'm sure in 20 years we will all be longing for the simple days of the W213 when cars were easy to work on

Around here, you actually see Prii in the left lane quite often

doing 75-80. Most of the slowpokes are nondescript 10-year-old Hyundais and Corollas.
