Care to get a weekly headcount on that little outfit?

I promise you that whatever is grossed at that little sale barn is completely eclipsed by the pecan and hunting money that makes it into the community. I've driven up and down 190 lots of times and that sale barn never caught my eye. Of course I drive by them all the time, so maybe they blend into the town scape for me.

Nonetheless, a cowboy is not a common site on the streets of San Saba. With the Yuppie winery the Yuppie Gift Shops and the like, a "beat up cowboy" sticks out like a sore thumb.

Apparently I did not see the whole speech. I saw the part about him claiming acting as his career in a classy way. If he claimed himself a hero, I stand corrected and find that quite off putting.

I take your word for it though. I just didn't see that part, but thought that I had seen the whole thing. Claiming yourself a hero doesn't go over well, even in a Hollywood crowd.

Dang - it went down in a hurry. I dunno, don't I have anything better to do than to run down McConaughey? There is always the chance that his ancestors rubbed shoulders with me own and here I'm sneering at him? Be careful MacTavish, lest the Gods be not pleased.

He was trying to make some kind of point about always working to better yourself - said he told a respected family friend when he was 15 that his hero was himself, 10 years from now; the friend asked him at age 25 (yeah, right) if he was the hero now and he said 'no way, now it's me 10 years from now.'

I dunno, like I said, I need to let it go.

I have a small connection to two items in this post. My daddy was an actual cowboy from cowboy stock in the southern AZ/NM border area. There are family pictures somewhere of his grand-daddy running a chuck wagon at some roundup.

He spent part of his youth in Duncan, AZ and when we'd visit his parents there, my grand-dad would give us big bags of shelled pecans from one of the 2 giant trees in their yard. Point being, pecans and cattle country are by no means mutually exclusive. And some ol' boy in Texas with a spread of pee-cans is going to look a lot like a cowboy.

yeah, but you don't know "Mathew" personally like mr. A&R AKA namedropper. Are you on a first name basis with this famous individual? I think not. I bet you don't even know Tommy Lee's preferred brand of socks in San Saba.

Gene Wilder used to live in the same neighborhood as my mother in CT. Ahh, the many fond memories I have of Gene!

This one time, I could swear, we visited the same rest stop within 14 hours of each other! Im not trying to say nothing, but its kinda a big deal

Honoured for his performance as homophobic electrician and cowboy Rob Woodruff, who is is diagnosed with AIDS and given 30 days to live, McConaughey started his celebrations by planting a massive kiss on wife Camila Alves before heading to the stage to collect his award.

Once he got there he really got into his stride. After thanking the Academy, his fellow nominees and the people he had worked with on the film, he launched into his three point plan.

He said: "There are three things I need each day. One is something to look up to, one is something to look forward to and one is something to chase.

I didn't see his speech, but reading this, it makes enough sense.

Ha, I can better that. I've met a guy who adapted a W201 5-speed to an OM616. In fact, not only did I meet him, but he GAVE me parts! I got to talk with him for a while and even see the hallowed tranny itself

. I think when I left, he said something like, "Go to the 5-speed, my son."
