There was once a chain of 24 hour coffee shops that spread across east Texas and the D/FW area. They were OK places to grab a quick bite of the normal hamburgers and such. They did sell a lot of coffee.

The story I got on these was that they were owned by one Texas oilman who traveled Texas a lot and he was tired of never having a place to get a bite in a lot of the smaller towns where his oil operations were located. So he just built his own and made sure they were open 24/7.

If you remember the Arlington, Texas, area from the late 60's there was one of these just east of the SE corner of Randol Mill Road and US 360 on the south side of Randol Mill Road.

Anybody know the place I am talking about?

He started working with his brother co-owning one Sonic franchise, mostly on money borrowed from their parents and friends. He was a fry cook and dishwasher and co-franchisee. By any economic standard of any country that has ever been in the history of humanity, he has done well.

I think if people want to eat poisonous shlt and then wonder why they and their spawn are grotesquely fat and tired and diabetic they ought to be able to. Stupid and ignorant is not against the law. I also don't see anything wrong with telling them they're idiots for doing it who are driving up the cost of everyone's health care.

A libertarian would say you are empowered to make your own decisions concerning your own body and you are responsible for the decisions you make.

Success in the franchising game is done in volume ,you will not get rich off of one location ,the 50 locations shows that he was in the game early on .The Franchise Industry Game gives the top dogs a meaty bone ,choice of location is scouted by corporate and you ,its not your decision soley ,he planned his area well ,success is their but some are sold on how easy it is to get rich when your basically just a partner to the company,your given more chips in the game the more successful you are ,I was showing both sides of the franchise industry.If you study in depth Pizza Franchises youll find most come form a small area of Wisconsin, its an Industry mathimatical set for the corporation to always win and you the franchise owner have to really see the whole picture before pushing all of your chips into the pot .Their the dealer and the hand is always in their favor.

I'll have to admit...Waffle House has the best roadhouse coffee of any stop I've ever encountered on my travels. They also have some pretty mean hashbrowns.

Sonic has pretty good hotdogs, but their car hop service schtick is meh. I actually prefer going into a Skyline Chili for one of their dogs instead, but there aren't any of them around here...so Sonic fits the bill.

Popeye's Chicken is a go to place on our travels to Ohio...the one west of Columbus at the TA center. Perfect spicy travel food...and the best darned biscuits of any chicken joint I've ever been to.

Apparently, the Waffle House uses a standardized restaurant size, so not only do they (and other chains) accommodate interstate drivers reluctance to "turn around", they also double down on busy locations to handle overflow business and to keep out the competition.

It was on I-10 somewhere near Biloxi. On a day off in between JazzFest weekends, we had driven into Mississippi to drop off a MacIntosh amplifier to a boutique repair guy, and to do a little 4 wheeling in Red Creek.
I was catching some z's when I awoke in the Wabble House lot, and found myself surrounded...

I have also been kicked out of a Wabba House during an All-You-Can-Eat promotion... I didn't read the fine print, it was all you can eat for an hour...
Had been outside doing a rinky-dink festival all day in the rain with no catering...
I am fairly sure I got my money's worth out of them that day...
