Miata sold

Took a deposit from a nice young engineer for my 99 Miata today. I will miss that car very much!

I'd like to move from the formula ford back to a dual purpose street and autocrosser.....like a newish Lotus with the Toyota engine in the back.

Nice! I remember seeing it on Miata.net, always wanted to pick one up but I already have too many cars.

I have not driven one yet but in autocross they are stupid fast. I honestly don't care for the looks all that much but the lightness is evident and much sought after by any serious autocrosser. After last summer a major goal will be to eventually get to a car that is good in autocross but has AC.

I often beat lotuses in autocross at the 16th street speedway in my Miata, which was my favorite venue, but never when the lotus was in the in the hands of a skilled driver, running hoosiers.

I considered an mr2 before buying my Miata and felt it would be tricky to tune the handling of a mid engine only being able to change the front sway bar....with a rear weight bias I thought one might need to adjust the rear bar to balance it so passed. I rarely see an mr2 running autocross, though there is one in our region which runs in an obscure modified class with not much competition. Even though it is supercharged I used to regularly beat its time in my stock Miata. the driver is very experienced but a large fellow so his weight might matter some. Prolly 6'4 and 250 or so.

Mr2 spiders are pretty common in autocross I thought? They are on my short list right next to the miata.

They are not common where I run. I still like them but the rule about only changing the front sway seemed against a mid engine rear weight biased car to me and I decided on the tried and true Miata. While there is one mr2 that regularly runs in the indy region there is at least a dozen Miatas...perhaps more.

I had to stand up inside the car then sit down to get in. getting out was even messier, at one point i had 2 hands down on the ground while fishing my legs out.

i had a 2005 S2000 and STR was so much fun and relatively cheap to modify, a set of wheels, front sway bar and 255/40/17 RS3's and you are pretty much almost set up for that class.

i am looking for a car to wrench on for 2014 season and i want to get a pre 2004 S2000 or a 1.8 NA Miata.
