Haven't you ever dealt with a union?

How about the municipal unions like AFSCME? or the police unions?

To because he's not a GI. Ow if OTOH he were a member of the military on a trumped up charge, it would be a different story. He would be just left to rot.

Pretty sad when so many supposedly American officials loathe the military to that level.
Being a veteran myself, I came to understand through conversation with political types they can be divided into three groups; those who support veterans and veteran rights, those who simply do not care one way or the other and those who loathe and despise the military. I've met and talked with all three, it doesn't take long to get a read on a man simply by listening to what he says...........

I haven't read this book yet, but it is on my 'must read' list:

http://www.amazon.com/Dereliction-Duty-Eyewitness-Compromised-Americas/dp/0895260603/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1405520868&sr=8-2&keywords=deriliction+of+duty

When the book first came out, the author appeared on C-Span and gave the particulars that led up to the book. Let's just say he had a front row seat to some real nasty behavior......

It's a miracle that anything gets done.

When did anything like this happen to a US soldier on US soil?

How about if we sequester the Chief of Police or the Mayor of Chicago there for 31 hours?

Ya think Rahm Immanuel would say, " Well accidents happen. It's cool."

Nope, he'd hang 'em high.
That is kinda the issue we have today. Everyone is sue happy. As a doctor, I'm going to run every test so I cover my ass if you sue me. Bill goes up. As a company, I need to buy more insurance to cover in case there is an accident. We can get insurance for so many things today. Wonder why.

The people who do this know that they'll be protected which is why they think they can.
Why would they search for him? He was directed to a waiting area and he got the wrong area and it was under construction. He isn't an inmate. We have seen people go to stores and after a bit of a wait, walk off and go somewhere else. So why would anyone think of searching for him? They have more critical issues to take care of like the prisoners.

Kinda of a stretch. If it were me, I'd ditch the employee under the bus and save the suit to make myself look better in front of the boss. "See? I got rid of a problem child and saved us a lawsuit. Score twice for me. You can call me King Stud.".

How many times have you seen people wondering off from Prison? I don't expect that you're able to set foot in a prison without signing in and out. Bit of a weak comparison don't you think?

Statist? Well, my taxes are used in part to settle lawsuits against the state so I have some small interest in the issue.

In my perfect world he would get medical bills and maybe $10 to $50 K. Certainly not millions.

I don't follow. He is a visitor not an inmate. We are expecting people break OUT of prison not IN. Still doesn't tell me why you think it was deliberate that they did that. An "oops" moment? Sure. Deliberate, I don't see. Now if you have some evidence that they told him to turn left and slammed the door and left him there, I'd say you have a point about the deliberate part. So far, all I see is an accident that should not have happened. Some new protocols, sure. A disciplining of the guards, sure. Hung out to dry? No.

There's one guy with an odd story in Mexico. Give us some examples of a vet being left to rot on a trumped up charge.

Doesn't matter whether he is a visitor or an inmate, people don't walk in and out of prison without supervision or approval, in the same way that people don't walk in and out of the maternity wing of hospitals without the right access control.

It's a matter of process.

This will be a civil suit; theory is negligence where the standard is 1) Was there a duty owed the plaintiff; 2) Did the defendant(s) breach that duty?; 3) Was the breach of duty the proximate cause of injury or damages to plaintiff; 4) what is the injury or damages? The applicable "test" regarding the breach of duty would be what a reasonable person or entity would have done in the situation, and since this is an action on property, whether the land owner knew, or should have known, of the potential hazardous condition.

Dream on. Have you ever researched the religion known as statism (worship of the state)? Statist practice statism, a religion started long ago by the Romans.
