Calling ILUVMILS

ILUVMILS -- Saw in the username thread you diagnose Mercedes Malfunction Indicator Lights (MILs). Maybe you can help me. I posted this in Tech Discussion here as well as two other forums with zero feedback.

On my 2010 ML350 (W164), the right mirror turn signal was not functioning. A MIL message on the display told me the right mirror turn signal was not functioning and the signal flashed twice as fast as normal.

I disassembled the mirror and found 4 wires going to a connector that feeds the LED mirror turn signal and the right standing lamp. 3 of the 4 wires were broken and the 4th was damaged (the insulation was cracked in multiple places). I understand this is a common problem related to folding the mirrors when the vehicle is locked.

So I corrected all the faults with butt connectors, shrink wrap, and electrical tape securing all 4 wires as it came from the factory. The mirror turn signal works and the standing lamp lights up when it is supposed to.

But the stupid MIL message still says the mirror turn signal is not working.

PS: I confirmed the front and rear turn signals are functioning properly, so we can rule them out.

Any suggestion?

Thanks.
