Snowed in

We've received about 15 of the 30 anticipated inches of snowfall for today.

Digging this out is going to be fun.

High level of distrust in your neighborhood? That's a lot of security bars.

You are lucky in that some places demand removal of all cars from the streets for expected storms. I also hope you do not get as much snow again on top of that.

Your neighborhood may not be that bad as I still see the hood star. Usually the first thing to go.

My wife has threatened to put security bars on the bedroom window. Just the other night she heard me scratching at the bedroom door. Got up and let me out.

Only takes getting broken into one time to justify putting bars on the windows.

As an aside, right after a storm such as this is the ideal time for a major B&E. LEOs are effectively useless and power goes out a lot. Someone who is prepared could do pretty much as they please.

The neighborhood is perfectly safe... the window bars are mainly a leftover from the Bad Old Days™, and some of the older landlords/homeowners who've been in the neighborhood for a very long time still feel more comfortable with them installed.

Nice pictures. Here I sit drinking coffee in NH, totally prepared for such a storm since November and there's two inches in my yard.

That was a nice dig out job. Now just sit back and have a beverage until the plow comes back again.

Yet perhaps they do not in your area. I always think well it could have been worse after any decent snowfall.

I just love it when we get cleaned up after a storm and the plow comes back with their wing extended and replows a decent amount back in. This is a standard constant method of widening out here in the country.

No snow to speak of up here in eastern Canada so far this year. Plus the tail end of what you got is going to miss us. Not all of the east coast of Canada perhaps but at least our area. It has been fairly windy here last night and this morning though.

In general it is a little strange for the last ten years or so it seems the northeastern area of the USA south of us gets worse weather snow wise than we do. Also on average the winters are warmer here than they have been historically. This year is a good example of that as well.

Although that said last winter we got three decent substantial snow storms back to back. That was not usual either and the accumulation was substantial.

Must be due to the fact of the filthy rich MB owner near by.

I never do driveway ends until the plow has been past.

So can you park there? Over here we gotta move our cars when they declare snow emergency.

Yup, no snow-related restrictions here (oddly--you'd think it would be easier to clean things up if you made people move).

I technically don't need to move until Feb. 4.

We went to the beach. Did end up wearing a light jacket most of the time, the breeze made it chilly.

It may be a day after the original plowing or even two if the storm was bad enough. Then they come along and wing it back further, The additional space is needed for the next storm if one occurs before it melts down. .

At decent speed that wing can drive a lot of snow back into the mouth of the driveway. .

It is forecast to rain for a couple of days up here in eastern Canada later this week. I hope it reduces the amount of snow for those that have too much without flooding anywhere. That's of course if rains there . A nice warm wind is better though.
