After a while it becomes automatic and you can’t have arguments because she always wins the little stuff and you have no clue what she’s saying. If she gives you that “it’s important” look then give the raised eyebrows and shoulder shrug, and she’ll repeat herself. In thirty years, if she’s smart and sticks around, she’ll tell her friends and relatives that she has the nicest, easy going husband in the world and she wouldn’t trade you for anything. And she’ll have figured out that nobody can control the big stuff like war and cancer. All with no effort on your part, other than “Yes’m” once in a while.

Oh, and threaten your niece’s life. The 240D is a nice car.

Hi jim, hope all is sorted with the wife. I agree, the ladies do like to be included in a decision no matter how small it may seem to the men. Imagine my disbelief when kerry bought an apartment just like that! If you thought you were in a dog house, his was canine anti-nirvana.

Just read this post and was very impressed by the honest opinions conveyed. I wish you all fulfilling relationships with your other halfs.

Within the next few days I will be selling the E320 and picking up a 1982 300TD (202k miles which I may clean up and make available). The wife has been after me to get rid of one soooo, I'm selling the E320 BUT I was not intending to purchase the 300TD till it just kinda "came up" last Friday. It was a trade in at the local MB dealer and I purchased it from the guy that purchased it from them. It is in very good condition and a good cleaning will do it justice. In addition, it runs and drives out great. I think I'm going to drive it into the garage and see if she notices anything different - LOL. That garage space in Eastman will look mighty good come Sat night but hopefully it won't come to that. I'll keep ya'll posted and put some pictures up later in the week

Heck, that may even turn out to be true. My neighbor has a diesel pump at his house for his farm tractors. He probably would'nt miss 20 or so gallons a week!!

This 300E is driving me to stop drinking, I can't afford two bad habits!!:p :p

You shoulda seen the look on the 13 year old boys face when he found out I was getting rid of the E320 and picking up the 300TD LOL. I told him I would do the 24/10 thing to it - 24" wheels and 10" speakers - but I was just kidding. Something about those songs he listens to. He has not come to the realization that his first car is more than likely going to be a 1983 240D. I'll be doing the laughing then

The 9 year old likes these cars because they do not have air bags and he gets to ride in the front

- obviously with the seat belt on whether he is in the front or back.

Vs? Yes - vs. Contractual obligations and family never synergize well. Borrowing/Lending anything" is #2 on the list of "Ways to cause contention" between relatives. I could be wrong in your case, there are exceptions.

On the wife perspective - never let each other rest their head on the pillow angry. If intuition tells you she's not happy, she probably isn't. If you lack intuition or psychic abilities then you are in trouble because women don't always tell you when something is wrong until the detonator is at "T" minus 3 seconds and counting. Case in point - My neighbors wife is cheating on him:

#1 He had no idea she was looking elswhere or when this began.
#2 She said that it stemmed from his career aspirations or lack thereof - over a year ago. He just found out this week.

Ok, there's NO excuse for cheating and that's a dramatic example but #2 is a clear example of T- minus 3. The best thing you can do is just try to brace yourself!!

Turned out the sister is going to give me $2k for the 240D and so, with the good news, I told the wife I had already purchased another one. She took me to pick it up, took a look at it and said "It looks better inside than the 300D." This car is SWEET - it is one of those deals that you can't turn down. Drives/runs great compared to the 300D - unbelievable running car. I have just gone through the books on the engine and I see where the book is stamped through 120k miles. I suspect the maintenance has been done on this car because it runs out so well

. I will get pictures posted after I get some wax on it.

I am purchasing another one - this is a 1982 240D with manual transmission - 141k miles - immaculate condition. I have not gotten up the nerves to tell the wife yet and this will probably delay me pulling the engine on the 300D. She still wants a mini-van
