Smile does anyone else feed their mice?

I have had a mouse problem since 2000. I started feeding them this summer. It keeps them out of places and foodstuffs. They are cute little things, and will run from everyone else but me.

The problem is that feral mice are crawling with bad stuff. Here in the NE, they are the prime repository of lyme disease, although the deer usually get the blame. If you look closely at those cuties, you may find they carry lice, mites, ticks and things that are much smaller and far more deadly.

I fully agree on using peanut butter and spring traps, but won't use poisons where other animals may be affected.

When I was up yonder earlier this yr, I took a backroad--that was apparently 300 yrs old , from Putnam Ct down twards Hartford, and before I got to Ashford I saw all the fields lines with the flat rock fences stacked everywhere, the first pilgrams children had obsessive compulsive rock stacking fixation, cubing off all the land they just stole from the Native people. anyhow the rock fences are like condos for all those mice up there in Ct and Ma.

When I stopped in Ashford at the library it was in a 300 yr old building that was either a town hall or school building in its earlier days, I went in to get access to send some emails, up on the top floor.

I was sitting at this terminal with my back facing the rows of stacks.....
Some disincarnated entity was right there watching me do my 21st century task looking over my shoulder. I seemed to sense she was female and very benign.

Depending on the type of mice or geographical location perhaps. There can be bad things in their feces. Tracked when dry may make it airborne.

I am no expert on this and do not know where this is a serious factor. Nature also has some effect on population levels. Adaquate food easily available might encourage larger reproduction numbers.

Again remember I really know sh-t about these things but just things from random memory. They are cute little creatures but not desirable as house guests.

Personally I dislike killing things but sometimes it has to be as well.

Good ideal. I have never had the best luck with live traps so choose one perhaps that members have had better luck with. We have the wire cage type with a drop door. The critter enters and there is a rocker where you place the bait. As the activate the rocker the door drops down.

I left them alone in NYC, because when we had mice we did not have roaches. When we killed all the mice we had roaches everywhere. I will take mammalian pests over roaches any day.
