Humvee for Cheap
They don't ride well, but it would be a handy farm or country vehicle...
"Need a new vehicle? For the next few days, the United States Department of Defense will sell you a military Humvee for a real bargain. The surplus inventory needs to go, so they’re priced to move. In fact, most surplus Humvees and trucks cost between $4,000-7,000 in an auction-style format. Even better? Most have extremely low mileage. As in, somewhere between 10,000-35,000 miles. A lot of them come from the 1990s." Humvee for Cheap: Buy from the U.S. Government for Under $4K

Plenty of states with lax titling requirements, especially for older vehicles. Or just "use the parts to rebuild a crashed Hummer H1."

You absolutely can in most states

If you lie to the DMV about it not being govt surplus mitilary vehicle......
lieing on a govt document -application for a title- is a felony. |

Here in azzhadt'd land, you see old ww2 jeeps rarely ,
technically even the 3/4 ton m1009 blazers cannot be titled here, that's why you see them in salvage yards |

Apparently it's legal, not easy per-se, but probably also depends on the state, and who handles your paperwork at the DMV, title/tag place, etc...

It Just Got A Lot Easier To Own A Surplus Military Hummer
Looks like they're now being sold with the proper paperwork to legally get a title at a state DMV. |

That's curious, as I registered and sold a M1009 in Texas back in the early 2000s. All I had to have was the DOD paperwork stating it was a vehicle and not scrap.

Nor can you register something without first putting the title in your name. |

It all depends on what is on that DOD form. And, there is not a lot of argument about getting one that has the right form titled, as Chevy made that engine available in K5s back then. The .mil stuff is all non weapon related and does not affect the operation of the vehicle in any way. https://ck5.com/forums/threads/civilian-vs-military-blazer.182041/

Lots of ex-military vehicles driving around Colorado. Seeing more FMTV's. Those would be really nice on a farm I think. Relatively cheap on the auction sites.

On the site it says you have to declare how you intend to use it.
Might want to check with your BMV before bidding on one to be sure. |
