I lived in LA for a while and have had In-N-Out, I like them but I am not camping out for a couple/few days to eat a burger. I have eaten at various franchise burgers.... not impressed. I like the small private places. Much better food and better service.

I miss it. I have not been to one in almost 3 years. I just like the food. I recently went to McDonalds after a long absence and the Big Mac is still one of my favorites. Still the same as I remember.

The mystique.

They opened a Culver's here recently and all the midwesterners really got hard from it, but it's literally burgers and fries like anywhere else.

Nostalgia is a powerful thing. I still fondly remember the 50 cent fried burritos at Wayne's Drive-in where I grew up, even though in retrospect they were terrible. But if that place reopened I'd probably go there.

When you are as old as my age group. Sticker shock at times occurs. Fifty cents would buy a more than adaquate hot roast beef sandwich in a restaurant. Hot roast beef on a bun at a take out was nineteen cents. Hambugers where five for a dollar.

Even as late as the very early 1960s. You could pay the morgage and all utility bills plus the property insurance and property taxes. At lower cost than our hydro bill alone is today. It averages about two hundred a month.

Today we recognize or should how fortunate we were.

We had 2 in n outs here and they are packed 100 percent of the time. Drive through line is about 1/2 Miles long. If you go there your not eating for about 45 minutes to a hour. I like the food there but I still consider it fast food which means it doesn’t deserve a huge portion of my time to go there.

I used to be a big fan when I was younger. These days, I know there are a lot better burgers to be had, but they are great for what they are - a simple, inexpensive, made to order burger and fries. They are usually decently located right off good road trip routes and were/are way better than McD’s for burgers.

There are tastes for all. I like simpler burgers-not the sauced up things at Carls jr and Wendys. I remember when Mcd's had the burgers for .20c. The Taco Bell tacos are pretty good. Fast food for me and mine is fairly rare these days.

People enjoy the secret religious messages on their food packaging. Actually, I don't know for sure if they still do that.

Actually along those same lines, I think some of the attraction is that they have many options which aren't on the menu, so people feel like they are in on a secret when they order their burger "animal style".

Smaller restaurants have perhaps fallen as casualties over the years. To franchised fast food places. Just another observation from my distant past.

Generally I do not like the fast food products. KFC and fish and chips being possible exceptions.

i tried the upscale meat hamburgers. Good when introduced but the quality of the meat backed off all too soon locally.

I as an old goat and others just like food that appeals to us. Usually it is not the healthiest for us.

Shoestring french fries salted to death and usually almost cold do not cut it for many.

The majority of wives work outside the home today. This may reduce the variety of food for supper they have the time to prepare. My wife still often prepares food that takes much of the day to produce . Where this time to do this is denied for many ladies. Of course wives do not want to always eat their own cooking all the time.

We just reciently replaced the kitchen stove at home as the wife was never really happy with the oven. She was happy with the one at the cottage. So we made the effort to find one about the exact same. Several days later with many of her tests. She was again happy with the stove. I all too well remember one idiot. Openly asking his wife at one of our dinners. Why she could not cook like the wife does. I figured he may pay for that remark.

I almost never eat fast food but whenever we go skiing in Lake Tahoe or visit LA, we always hit up IN n OUT. I dunno it’s a ritual lol.
