The problem is that the 12V pump will draw twice the current on six volts, which it may or may not survive. Six volt accessories tend to be physically larger because the wiring needs to be beefier.

Thanks MX. I found a six volt pump. It comes in a kit designed for a 32 Buick.

Before swapping cams, look into basic blue printing and balancing , match porting and perhaps a 4 V carby .

ICE's are essentially air pumps so making them flow better is always the first step .

Sorry ~ my buddy was a teletype operator and got me started on them back before the internet .

Very few people have any concept what "blue printing" an engine means .

It simply means build it to spec., not the close enough thing the bean counters approved .

Most folks think my jalopies are Hot Rods but they're not ~ they're just very carefully built .

Many small things like matching the exhaust manifold ports to the header's ports add significant power and reduce operating temperatures .

Balancing everything in the engine to zero grams is not difficult, it just takes time but the savings in equal weight of rotating and reciprocating parts is dramatic and also increases engine longevity , fuel economy etc.....

Flipping the cylinder head and "C.C.'ing" the combustion chambers them measuring the pistons crown to deck height then making minute changes so all the cylinder have the exact (or as close as you can get) displacement makes the power impulses equal .

I could go on but these are the basics of any racing engine and you don't need nor want an aggressive camshaft, you want smooth and linear power at all RPM's high or low .

A little more time spent measuring and matching parts makes a HUGE difference when you're driving the finished product .

We believe the engine is in pretty sound condition. He did a compression test the other day and they look pretty good. I might want to put in a more aggressive cam for a littlt more power. This can be done without pulling the motor or pulling the heads.

He has it running and driving now. All the gauges work too. Next I'll need to do repair the damage in the famous garage door episode.

i went out and test drove it. it is quicker than I imagined. With the od it has a 410 rear I believe. very nice car. Still some details to finish up.....well, the body repair needed is more than a detail.
