What do y'all think one should do to minimize covid harm or death.

Hard to tell what advice is wrong because it won't work and might cause harm versus what's good and doesn't seem to cause harm. Far too many are making statements that seemed based on political objectives.

It seems to be shaking out that covid will end up being able to infect multiple times similar to the flu or common cold.

What do you think one can do that is reasonable.

Lots of acquaintances are doing nothing or go to extremes. One close friend wears 3 masks when he is out dealing with the public.

Any comment on nasal rinses with/without iodine/peroxide?

Nebulizers with iodine/peroxide?

Get vaxxed and be done with it.

There are documented cases now of people who were vaxed and still caught COVID. My entire view of vaccines just changed with the reading of this book:

https://www.amazon.com/Dr-Marys-Monkey-Cancer-Causing-Assassination/dp/1634240308/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3KX2GGLW757DM&keywords=Doctor+Mary%27s+Monkey&qid=1644017273&sprefix=doctor+mary%27s+monkey%2Caps%2C258&sr=8-1

Here's what I'm doing and it seems to be working: When feeling bad, start taking 20,000 mg of Vitamin C daily. Acerola Vitamin C is derived from plants which I feel is better for you. Also, Liposomal Vitamin C is very easy on your internals which helps when you are downing 5,000 mg four times a day.

Also, magnesium, quercetin, Vitamin D, Selenium, zinc and garlic. There is a product called Oregano Oil that is anti-viral. I take 4 - 5 drops and place them in a base of sesame oil. I then take my finger and place the mixture under my tongue. You can also get the oregano oil capsules. North American Herb makes the best out there although they are a bit pricey.

Here's what one hospital did with a COVID patient who was on death's edge. Remember, IV is going to trump oral taken meds EVERY TIME.

https://www.medpagetoday.com/casestudies/infectiousdisease/87976?utm_source=pocket_mylist

Also, wear a KN95 close fitting mask when out in public and try to stay clear of anyone coughing and hacking.

I have taken all the vaccines and have not gotten it. My Mrs. too. We have children and grandchildren who have been exposed multiple times and some who have had it. I have also lost a few friends to it. I also have some friends who have had it and survived. I don't believe anybody I know who have had it have gotten vaccines previously. I know two couples who had it and then decided to get vaccinated.

I recommend getting vaxxed to the max.

Only recently has the FDA approved ANY vaccine which means ALL prior vaccines were not FDA approved....only EUA. Think about that one for a moment......

Here's the news release on the second one:

One of the reasons that led me to be more concerned is ' Long Covid '.

Too many, primarily unvaccinated people, have lingering serious issues. A few people are committing suicide due to their suffering.

Really sad so many people have died, especially the good ones.

The founder of Texas Roadhouse died from suicide due to long covid:

Great guy. Our local Roadhouse, for years, gave veterans 50% off their meals for years. Almost cheaper than buying ingredients at the grocery. Plus giving out $25 gift certificate between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Just found out the neighbor's across the street are infected-they are both "Vaccinated" but I never saw them wearing a mask.

Avoidance of the virus? In cold weather when large grocery stores are heated. Go the very first thing in the mornings. Aerosol clouds can exist for hours in low humidity situations. Cloth as well as poor fitting masks are almost useless in that type of situation..

I believe that is pretty common with most airborne virus types. Not rocket science really. When humidity is high the virus particles get wet and sink fast. They float nicely in dryer air.

Six hours is average airborne time in dry enough air. So next morning first thing it should be settled out. It also is good training if a mutation with really serious issues comes along. Chances of that are impossible to estimate. The scientists have been concerned from the start though that it is possible. Yet far from a certainty.. .

Currently the two vaccinations and the booster seem to reduce serious illness in most cases is pretty well proven. So obviously the first line of defense is to have all the shots. Statistics are pretty solid that it reduces the chances of really serious illness issues. Beyond any subjectivity now. It is no walk in the park to go through serious issues with this virus.

I should perhaps add that a dryer nasal passage system is less likely to act as a natural barrier to virus fragemets getting too far into the breathing system. I really try to keep it simple and understandable as it is.

People that will not get vaccinated are a concern. They risk being so sick they would preffer death in some cases. Common sense is it is just not worth it. Also there is no economic barrier as the shots are provided at no direct cost. . Not much is out there now that is. Common sense in general is worth using. Lack of it is endemic.

Good comments, plus a funny good one. My only chance of a French kiss is from our dog when I'm not paying attention. That's also risky health wise due to their mouth's bacteria.

I like both clean and dirty jokes. Laughing or chuckling is enjoyable for a while, and a good joke, that is not harmful, can be revived from time to time.

One I just thought of is:

Good sex for an older person is always close at hand. Another one I thought of long ago:

I still have my first toy.

I'm sure I'm not the first to think of these.

Time will tell if there is any long term harm from the vaccines. Personally I think the majority of us will not have any. It's unfortunate that heart and other issues seems to be occurring in a tiny percentage.

I don't understand the hesitation of getting vaccinated. Most of us have had routine vaccinations all of our life. Smallpox, tetanus, whooping cough, chickenpox, measles, polio, mumps, flu, and for the older generation, shingles. We should all be thankful they've been available.

I see the vaccine as being shot with a 22 short compared to a 50 caliber or a shotgun. Sure it hurts for a while and a few do have complications that are mostly treatable, but that is nothing compared to what might happen with a covid infection if one is not vaccinated. Close to 1,000,000 have died. Many, many, millions of years of life has been lost for the ones that have died. The vaccine is life insurance that benefits the person not just their family.

The unvaccinated adults should ask themselves and also ask their family what would be lost if they died of covid.
The chance of long covid also seems to be significantly higher in the unvaccinated plus ones with previous health issues.

https://www.nytimes.com/2022/01/25/health/long-covid-risk-factors.html

Two recent news articles discuss what causes long covid:

https://www.forbes.com/sites/williamhaseltine/2022/01/25/new-clues-to-long-covid-prolonged-inflammatory-response/?sh=26de2dd7765c

https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/covid-smell-loss-and-long-covid-linked-to-inflammation1/

I'll keep researching nasal rinses and nebulizers with a bit of iodine and peroxide. Seems it might reduce mucous related virus buildup and subsequent inflammation.

I'm also a believer in good gut bacteria due to previous radiation and surgery. I now purposely eat things to help replenish them.

Long ago the chinese would use ' yellow tea ', poop mixed with water to help treat gut problems. The British army supposedly started treating gut problems with camel poop after suffering from what seemed to be untreatable gut problems. They observed the camel owners from time to time eating camel poop and asked why. After my last colonoscopy I asked the doctor if a poop transplant was available. He thought I was nuts, apparently he's not well informed.

Recent ' good quality ' studies say people with higher levels of vitamin D are substantially less likely to suffer severe symptoms or death.

https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0263069

This covers the impact since covid started:

https://www.wsj.com/articles/one-million-deaths-the-hole-the-pandemic-made-in-u-s-society-11643662159

It might take a while to get in better medical health but it might save quite a few lives.

Supposedly being obese increases chance of serious harm by 300 percent. Also being diabetic
high blood pressure
smoking or have other chronic conditions.

Supposedly eating a meat based, high fat, Atkins, paleo, keto diet compared to primarily a plant based diet increases chance of harm by 400 per cent.

It's gonna be tough to follow a primarily plant based diet. Really like a good steak, bbq, chicken fry. Just purchased 20 lbs of meats from Brookshires Grocery yesterday and today. Luckily they mark down meats by 50 percent on the ' best by date '. Loaded up so I can make bone based stew/soups. Just started using ' bone based meat ' and have made the best soup of my life using meat with bones seared then softened in a crock pot for 20 hours plus lots of veggies, mushrooms, roux, plus more. Really tasty and good calcium from the softened bone and cartilage. Liquid is primarily tomato and milk based. Roux for thickening and flavor.

Best news type video I've seen on the current state of the covid pandemic. From the Mayo Clinic, long but very informative:

https://youtu.be/32IAD5NyqWg

Lots of interesting facts and statistics.

One is that a mutation like Omicron harms far more people due to it's contagion levels being so increased. In a short time period, literally millions of more infections resulting in death or illness compared to 10's of thousand for the initial type and Del

Should be watched by the anti-vax people, plus anti-maskers.

In my previous list of vaccines, I forgot a really important one for those that haven't been exposed to HPV. We are in a small subdivision of 15 homes. Two men have had tongue/throat cancer. One had his tongue removed. The other just returned from MD Anderson Center in Houston.

HPV cancer statistics:

This is a tough question! As with most problems there is no perfect solution that is without compromise. To make it worse, there are people on both sides of the vax/no vax issue that have not bothered to learn the entire story in order learn what they need to know.

Firstly, it amazes me to see how many people believe that wearing a mask will solve the problem. It was said to everyone in the beginning broadly and clearly that a mask can help to prevent the wearer from infecting others, but does very little to protect the wearer from exposure.

In the beginning it seemed that people on both sides of the political aisle were, at least to some extent, we’re cooperating in an effort to achieve a solution for all. It didn’t take long for the politicians and hard core extremists on both far sides to start making it political. Once it was made a political issue that opened the door for the corrupt media to obscure some information and enhance other information. ( Never let a good crisis go to waste.)

Once that happened, the media and politicians created two camps, which brings us to the vaccination/no vaccination war:

The vaccination at first was said by many people in the field would be several years away. For whatever reason, it came much quicker. Trump telling the FDA Director to approve it or resign was certainly a factor. Then once it came, there were some credible people in the medical world that said it may very well have long term I’ll effects. That led to two camps:

Vaxxers, including myself, we’re quick to take the vaccine and when the time came got the booster. For me, for now, it seems to be working well. I have several friends who are physicians. One of them said vaccinations work and that seems obvious, but another has read a lot of medical information that I can’t understand, and refuses to take the vax because of the serious long term effects that he believes are coming.

So, that makes it kind of a stand off as far as getting the shot. It’s working for me, but there may be a time in the future when I regret the decision.

We’re the issue ceases to be a “darned if you do, darned if you don’t” decision is when you start talking mandating masks and vaccines. This is America, we are supposed to have freedom although, more of it is taken away from us ever day.

So, back to te OP’s question, I really don’t know what the solution is. If we mandate the vax, what happens if my Doctor friend is right and serious, fatal after effects start ocurring. I certainly wouldn’t want to have responsibility for signing the vax mandate.
