Arthur!!!!
Hey Arthur, your post was the last thing i read when i went to bed. Guess what i had a dream about?
I had a dream that i was at home with friends and family and this white beat up station wagon pulls up. This obese, ugly, nasty chick, she also had a little facial hair (uhh NASTY) was in the car and was asking for me. I approached and said, who are you? how can i help you? and she told me something (i cant remember all of the dream) and she was some girl i met on the Internet or phone or something, then i turned her down and walked back in the house. Then i was so damn embaressed when everybody was asking me who that was. Then i woke up. I never have dreams like that, and i am sure it had something to do with reading your post before going to bed! LOL. Well its 1:17am and i cant sleep so time to head out to the office to get some stuff done. I wonder what sigmund freud would say about a dream like that. |

Life's funny...
...if I only knew then what I know now, the dating scene in my 20's wouldn't have been so frustrating... And to think the rules were so doggone simple...be yourself! I guess that's the nice thing about being married...I'm at ease with myself, enjoy the company of my family, and go about my business without feeling like I have to drive such-and-such, wear so-and-so, or act like a total buffoon in order to get attention! Funny though...female friends I knew back then all swore to me that what car you drove didn't matter...but ALL of their boyfriends had sharp rides! :p P.S. Anyone else here want Shanta to post a pic of herself?

It's starting to look like the dating game!!
Ahhhhhhh.......I'm to old for that. Regardless of gold diggers, you can also determine the person's way of thinking, being, is way of looking at life if you will. Take a "gino" in a BMW for example..... This is why people surround themselfs with what they surround themselfs with (consciously or not). I'm an older guy (43) with a 1967 250s so i'll attract people (girl/woman) whoo digs that type of car, which is fine with me, but there is no gold in my pockets. DAN

I have actually had women come up to the window of my 300D and ask me if I wanted a date for $40. Why should I need a date for $40 when I can give my wife all my $$ and she don't care if I have to walk or take the bus??

Interesting Thread
This has been a very interesting thread.
I must admit to being surprised -- but not displeased -- that the "myth" of a nice car, good looks, and $$ does not apply to me. Whether I am driving my own car (260E) or the S500 I occasionally borrow from a dealer client, I don't have women throwing themselves at me. It is not necessarily because they don't want to, but rather because of the vibe I evidently put out. I am very serious and discriminating by nature, and most of the gold diggers realize that they will not get past that barrier, so they do not bother to try. A lot of nice, non-gold diggers also will not approach me either, which was initially disappointing, but something I have come to appreciate because I only like courageous and confident women (not to be confused with brazen and arrogant) and my "defense shields" simply filter out all the inappropriate candidates. It never would have occurred to me in a million years that I would be participating in this type of conversation in a Mercedes forum! |

BTW,
Here is the direct link to the car article: http://www.askmen.com/dating/curtsmith/27_dating_advice.html I am afraid this does not necessarily apply to Mercedes drivers (with the possible exception of SL's) as ours are "old men's cars." I don't ever recall experiencing or seeing any Benz lust by women, but have observed them fawning over Lamborghinis (of course) and Ferraris. |

The "myth" of the nice car need'nt be a barrior. Excluding variations based on taste, I would assume that a positive reaction to an mb rests on the side of high standards and uniqueness.
From the emails he repsonds to on that website, the doctor love persona seems to drive home the point of challenging potential mates and maintaining mysteries, while observing the "interest level" during a date, typically whether one is being touched physically or not; he seems to think that a super car would confuse an accurate reading of interest level. Therefore, I think driving an MB but not talking about it, like you were born to drive it, would propogate the idea of high standards, unqieness, confidence and mystery without having to compete with the car. doc love sez his sytem wont work with femininsts, goldiggers and emotionally unstable types. Those categories are so broad its ridiculous - what woman would deny the concept of equality? also, what if the person possesses deep religous convictions? Such persons, where sincere, make very good mates - unless you convert, i doubt any system is going to bridge that gulf. |

interestingly enough, Lately I have been meeting the most amazing women, Intelligent, Beautiful, down to earth, sweet, and overall great personalities. All of them are absolutely gorgeous, and none of them are gold diggers. They like me for me, and not for what I have in material possesions, but what I have in mind, body and spirit.
I am absolutely amazed at this recent change in the types of women I have been meeting, and it has boosted my confidence to levels never before reached. All I can say is, there are good ones out there, and any woman who will be with you because of what material things you have, is only after one thing, and its not you. Alon
