Which 300SL?

Your rich uncle left you a pile in his will, but limited it's use to the purchase of a W198 300SL with a manufacture date from 1954 through 1963. However, he did not indicate which body style.

Fast forward a month, and you're at the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center, eyeing a pair of immaculate silver W198's; one being a gull-wing, the other a roadster.

Which one do you take home?

Gull wing. Those doors are what makes it so unique.

I take the Gullwing, but the roadster is the better car.

Roadster. Looks better, more sophisticated, more to choose from-if the time comes. I saw a DD roadster here a while ago. Had patina-not bad but used. But if I did have the money I could think of other cars I might want. Actually I just remembered I bought some Powerball tickets.

I can dig it! Make mine black with a tan interior, though.

Silver on blue for the Gullwing, please.
