Does anyone know if that 400hp 4.2 liter twin turbo Trailblazer is coming to market?
I think that's called the Trailblazer SS, seen it (a prototype I imagine) at the Chicago Auto Show.
No idea if it's going into production.

I think Jeep is/(was?) supposed to bring their Liberty with a diesel engine to the United States next year? I don't know too much about this, just something I heard.

GM was supposed to put a small pickup (like the Sonoma and S10) on their line with a diesel engine. I think the truck was going to be called Colorado. Actually this truck was supposed to be a replacement of the Sonoma etc.. But it was turned down.

Oh yeah, the Pacifica is also supposed to be offered with a diesel engine sometime in the near future, unless that gets called off too.

Cool!! I haven't seen one in person yet, but after looking at it on Chrysler's site, the Pacifica looks to be a nice car. I was actually thinking that the only drawback is that it isn't available with a diesel...but if they put one in, !!

It's a nice looking car and quite large but very well proportioned...

The Colorado is due out this fall.
Unsure what the GMC version is to be called, but the Colorado will start replacing the S10 pickup. It's a little bigger than the S10, about the size of a Dodge Dakota.
The engine that I have heard will be standard is a 5 cyl version of the inline 6 used in the TBlazer.
The S10 extended cab is out of production, we bought an 03 extended cab and they said that 03 is the end of the line, I am assuming the S10 crew cab and regular cab will still be produced for awhile.

Yea, I forgot about the Pacifica. Stopped in one day at the local Dodge dealer and inquired about the Dodge Sprinter. Salesman said it would be next spring. Anyway, took my time looking at the Pacifica and thought it was a really good looking in and out. Loaded out - they are pretty pricy. Be neat to see one with an intercooled turbo diesel five.

just purchased one

We just purchased a new pacifica on July 31 and so far I really like it. It rides so nice and quiet compared to the Ford Expedition we traded. We got the AWD model with leather and DVD player. The dealer really made us a sweet deal. I was reading that the rear end is MB design. I just hope motor and tranny will be trouble free. I always worry about first year models.

Just to add to this..., it is reported in the September 2003 Automobile Magazine that the Chevy S10 and GMC Sonoma, presumed dead with the arrival of the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon pickups this fall, will live on in crew-cab form until 2006. The Colorado and Canyon will be available as crew-cab models, but GM needs the S10 and Sonoma, built at a different plant from the new trucks, to satisfy demand.

I guess this is good news if you are a recent buyer of an S10 / Sonoma, as your car will not look obsolete / dated until they finally die in 2006...

A new vs old question ... have a 1994 Explorer and has been literally free of any issues with normal maintenance.

Newer ones have a huge following ... much, much nicer, but appear to retain SUV heritage ...
