Presents for Partners: The Lifesaver Thread!!

OK, in time for christmas, maybe we can all share the neat ideas we've come up with or had for presents in the past, for partners

I just started going out with this girl and I've got to get her a present.

But not for christmas, for her birthday on the 14th!
Then I've got to get a christmas present too!
And I just started going out with her, I don't really know her super-well.

I know her friends, but they are pretty useless..
My best idea so far has been Wrapping paper, which she can then use for christmas. I realise the best present would be something personalised or 'unique' rather than something generic, but I'm lost!

HELP!

Rusty

If you don't know her that well, take her out to dinner and buy her something silly, but not disposable like wrapping paper -- something like a stuffed animal or a desk calendar that suits her -- something inexpensive that has "good memory" potential.

My ex-wife...

...always enjoyed receiving tools and small kitchen appliances. She denied it vehemently every time, but i know in her heart she enjoyed them. Positive of it. She had to. I mean, who wouldn't love a new bench grinder?

If none of those ideas appeal to you, get her a DVD. Tons of stuff to choose from plus not too expensive

I still like LuckyF8's suggestion of a budget of NO MORE than $10 (any more and it spoils them, as he put it). He recommended five $2 bills!

Rusty, you do need help. Do not give her wrapping paper. Unless it contains a pair of tickets to one of the lovely theatre performances you can see in London at this time of year...

but if he gets her tickets to the theater, that means he too, will have to attend it. I know for me the pure misery of sitting through one of those things cannot be equaled by the possible rewards after...no matter how hot the chic is(unless she's paris hilton......)at least in my opinion.

Theatre tickets are good, I remember her mentioning she likes the theatre.

Of course I must be sure that I'll still want to go to it whenever the time comes round...

Made that mistake before

I still went though (it WAS a Tracy Chapman concert), and had a good time, (after the first 2 hours of sitting on a bus saying 'argh' in my head a lot.....)

Hope she doesn't read this or she'll know what she's getting. Maybe she drives a Mercedes?

Actually, she can't drive, which at least means my car is safe.
But she likes going fast in cars. Anyone selling a 500E?
