At 6'8" this is a very relevant discussion for me! When I was shopping for my 400E, I realized that MB made just about the only car I could find with a sunroof AND enough headroom for me. On the other hand, the W124 chassis is OK but not overly generous in legroom. I did think about moving to a W126 but in my test drives that chassis doesn't seem to actually give much, if any, additional FRONT seat legroom; the SEL's, of course, give the backseat riders a lot of room even if the front seats are pushed all the way back.

Once the 400E gives up the ghost, maybe I'll be able to afford a 140. Now, those have great front seats! Lots of legroom, and the wonderful bottom seat cushion that moves fore-and-aft independent of the rest of the seat.

For what it's worth, the W211 (i.e., new E-class) seems to have LOTS of front seat legroom, almost like a W140 without the adjustabe bottom seat cushion.

The 210 has great head room but so so leg room. My 126 is pretty tight in headroom but very good in legroom. I bet the Maybach has great room all over!

He also had an extra-large custom chopper bike built for himself as well. Have you seen that on TV yet? Looks pretty normal when he's on it, but when anyone else is next to the bike, it looks HUGE! Pretty funny.

W124 coupe headroom

I'm 6'3" plus change. Had no trouble fitting into my old W123 (sans sunroof). Usually like to sit in a very upright position. Now I have a W124 coupe. Always wanted a 2-door Mercedes . . . and by golly, no matter how difficult it is to fit inside . . . I'm going to have one! What I did to get a little more head room is tie the springs on the seat bottom down to the cross seat frame. It gives about another inch of headroom and the comfort is the same. Still, I cannot sit as upright as I would like. The sunroof is not wide enough, so I would have to lean over toward the center to get any advantage from that. Leg room is great!
