Tallness

I had always considered shortness to be a hindrance to driving but a man who is 6' 5" tall told me he has trouble parking his GMC Jimmy because he's too tall and can't see clearly in parking lots etc. Is there anything to this? I always thought tall guys had a big advantage when driving normal sized cars

Being tall, my head touches the roof in most cars, which means I have to slouch to avoid hitting the roof when going over bumps. This results in an uncomfortable ride.

Beng tall also means that when I'm the first one stopped at an intersection, I cannot see the traffic lights unless I lean forward and down. Usually I just watch the lower lights on the corner.

HAHAHAHA

Isn't this why dealerships allow test drives?? Most cars with power seats these days raise and lower with the touch of a button. I'm 6'2 while on occasion I do have to lean forward to see the traffic signal, it's usually because I pulled too far foward.

At 6'6" and some change I have a very hard time fitting in many cars. Jap cars are pretty much out of the question as are Italian sports cars. Though, I was able to remount the seat back around 6" in a Maserati. BMW's don't have enough head room nor do Porsches equipped with factory sunroofs. Good thing most Mercedes are built for tall people.

Jags, too suck for tall people!!!

I remember driving an 1986 Jaguar XJ-S coupe remembering how short the roof was and thought to myself "man, I'd hate to think of some NBA guy trying to fit in this thing!" I am 5' 9 3/4" and I had MAYBE an inch from the top of my head to the headliner. I was amazed.

sunroofs

sunroofs actually decrease headroom in most cases... 6'5'' makes car shopping quite easy. Do I fit or not? I do? Good. Sold. No? next.
my MBs have not given me any problems. Volvos good- subaru good- honda bad, VW bad, nissan passable but not good. Ponticrap bad-

worse than headroom for me is leg room, specifically the right leg that is forced to rest on the console. So many cars have sharpish edges that end up cutting off the circulation as you drive hours and hours.... that sucks! guess I should fix the cruise control...

Happy holidays all!

I am 6'3ish and my dad is 6'9 without shoes on. Most cars are too tight for my comfort (I need a lot of legroom, plus I have size 15 feet, and a lot of cars don't have pedals set up for those of us who are ham-footed). My Mom's Monte Carlo is okay for me other than the accelerator pedal is touchy and hard to modulate for me, because of my big feet and its tiny size. My Saturn VUE has more than enough room (I actually have the seat up 2 clicks from being all of the way back), and it feels as if it were designed for me. I have a pair of Skechers boots and a pair of Louis Vuitton clogs that are particularly huge, even for my big feet, and they make it rather hard to press the clutch to the floor without having to contort my foot, however.
Our S500 has more than enough room for my father and I, and the pedals seem to be set up for those of us with huge feet, yet my mother who is petite (5'2 and 110 pounds) has no problem manhandling the beast around.

You want to see close pedals? Try a Lotus Esprit. You need to have tiny feet to drive that car. Oh, you also need to be short too.

For the sedans, I agree. Oddly, I was test driving an 84 XJS, a cuople of years ago, and found that surprisingly, I acutally fit in the car. I'm 6 ft tall.

For tall people there is always the W126, lots of room. Or if you have the money I don't see how you could run out of room in the back of a Maybach 62.

I'm 6'3 and never did quite fit in my 123. I always had to slouch slightly, which was uncomfortable. My 126 is the first vehicle I've ever had that has enough headroom. Mind you an 84 Chevette and '52 Morris Oxford aren't exactly large cars. My 80 Camaro is lacking in headroom too, but I don't mind too much, being that it has 430 horses under the hood and runs 12's in the 1/4

I'm 6'8" so I've have a tough time in a lot of cars. I have a w126 so I can fit in that comfortably but no one can really sit behind me. My mom has a 1990 SL that I can fit in without being too cramped. What I usually do is push the seat as far back as it will go and then tilt the seat back pretty far. This makes me lean back so that i'll have more room up top.
