Would someone please explain???

How in the heck do you highlight a phrase out of someones' post and put it in your post to respond to? I've really tried, but cannot figure it out.

There's a quote button in the lower right corner of the message window.

I tried to get too involved with the process. It was so simple but not idiot proof. Thanks.

Okay, smart guys, so how to you do multiple quotes?

I can't figure that one out.

And for that matter, how do you do a poll? Haven't figured that one out either!

I don't know of a quick way to create multiple quotes. I interrupt a long quote and insert the appropriate tags to make it look right.

When you start a new topic, there's a poll checkbox just above the submit button.

I just click quote, copy the existing tag, and click quote on the second person I wanna quote from. If it's from the same person I just copy the first and last tag and insert them in the places I want to break the convo down into.

If you look at the text of what you're quoting once the "reply" page appears, you'll see html code inserted at the beginning and end of the quote that tells the message board server how to format the quoted text. The word QUOTE in the [ ] brackets starts the quote, and the word /QUOTE in the [ ] brackets ends it (I broke it up so I don't end up quoting part of my own post within my own post--confused yet? ), so you can cut and paste these bits of html code and use them to insert multiple quotes, or to break up a long quote into sections you want to respond to individually. You'll also notice similar code that sets up bold text: [B], or italics: [i], etc...

Ok, I must be slower than others. How do you get the "Originally posted by XXX" to appear? That never shows up when I use the quote button. Do you manualy type it in?

not quite... html uses <> and as their beginning and end tags, not [] and [/]. This code is specific to vBulletin boards (notice the "Powered by: vBulletin Version 2.2.8" and the V thingy next to "ShopForum" up top). This software is kinda popular for message boards (I know guru3d.com uses it... dunno who else). Now I'm just rambling...

Ah...I stand corrected. But "html" or not, it works.
