For the last 10 days I've been practicing sitting up straight while I'm watching tv or am at the computer. At first I tried sitting up straight for 3 minutes at a time, now I'm up to 20 minutes. I stopped doing sit ups at the same time I started sitting up straight and I believe sitting up straight tones the abs and everything else more and better than sit ups.
After one of the guys in my cycling club had his accident he couldn't do sit ups for 6 months, his belly turned to flab and he could then understand why he weighed 210. His sit up routine was 'compacting' the fat(hiding the fat). His chiropractor recommended sitting erect using good posture instead of sit ups.
For any of you fitness people, does sitting properly build muscle tone or is it just my imagination?
