I have alot of family in Minnesota. Been there alot, but always in summer. Real nice sometimes, hot and humid as hell other times. But very pretty, peaceful country. I always feel so relaxed and at peace when I'm there. Kinda wierd. I too would love to live there, if they'd get rid of their winters Land and homes seem cheaper than dirt there. Unbelievable what you can get for $100k, from looking thru real estate magazines.

I left about 12 years ago, but my in-laws live in Arlington so my wife and I visit every once in a while.

It was great living there (esp as a single guy), great weather, more than enough to do, and friendly people. I found Old Town to be a little up tight (there's a story behind that! ), but I suppose they need to be this way due to the large amount of tourists.

I'm glad they dumped the car tax, my sis-in-law never told me that when she was shopping for a new E320 last summer. I was berating her about the impending taxes on her new car, now I feel bad!
You would still be amazed. I'm pressed to find a townhouse down there in the $300k range. For that I get to live in the ghetto sections and I will end up with around 1100sqft. I've always loved old town and the window of opportunity is closing quickly with me being priced out.
