Ok well I have been trying to get a job for over a month after my old store closed. I found another company similar to my former employeer that wanted to employee me very much because of almost 3 years of experince and many accoplisments that I recieved at the prior job. I sat down for over 2 hours with the one of the stores mangers and talked about everything and it went very well (so proud of myself second job interview ever). They sent me off to be drug tested and the only way I could fail would be my supplements (passed). Well three days after the interview I recieved a letter saying that they could not hire me due to being a felon. They ran my social with someone elses name. I know who they ran and this happened before. I called the company to dispute on Jan. 30th I have called once a week since then and they tell me it's still under investigation. Well this week I called everyday and they got pissey with me so I went off.
Told them they are costing me a job and if they did not get it fixed within the next week an attorney would be contacting them about the matter. I went into the store talked to the manger and they still want me to work there even though they filled the postion. But they have to have this cleared up first. You guys have any ideas on what to do? After spending 400 bucks on the car this week im getting low on cash and need a job

Find out where they got their bad information simply send that company an certified letter stating that if this is not resolved within 5 business days of receipt you intend to sue for damages.
Make sure you include a copy of your Drivers License and SS#. In the mean time would pull a credit report from Experian, Trans Union and Equifax to make sure you’re not a victim of identity fraud. |

What MedMech said.
Also, what are the chances that something will turn up someplace else? Then, at the next place you could make sure that they double-check the ID info when they run the check. Good Luck. |

Have you been a victim of identity theft?
If you have send any and all paperwork, with a copy or your DL and SS card overnight to choicepoint my bet is that the situation maybe resolved as early as Tuesday almost definitely by the end of the week if you push the issue. Don't threaten to sue them until they stop performing, if they just correct the info it's almost an admission of guilt. Once they do correct it I would ask for a $500 inconvienence check. If they don't call it a mini-tort, they will get the point. |

Gents,
ChoicePoint is an old spinoff (mid to late 90's) of Equifax and most of their information is not covered/protected by the FCRA, as it is not dealing specifically with credit. They accumulate billions of records on people (driving, criminal, court records, voting, medical, drug screening, claims records, insurance underwriting risks, etc.) Unfortunately, without regulation, they are not forced into maintaining the accuracy of the records. For a non-governmental entity, they are about as close to 'big-brother' as you're going to get. Dan, contact them asap to get your record cleared up....expect that this will take some time, however. Otherwise, this will haunt you for the foreseeable future. Good luck.

Good luck. I've been fighting an identity mix up for 5 years now. I've had 2 attornies and a fella at the states General Attornies office working on it. It's not easy to straighten out sometimes, for some stupid reason. Fact of the matter is, there's too many people out there who won't do their job(banks, collection agencies, credit companies, ect) , and frankly don't care. I'm just lucky that at least the other fella I'm mixed up with isn't a felon. He just doesn't make his car payments.

I wonder if I could sue them for lost wages because in a month I would have made around a thousand dollars plus any other income. I'm now forced to go work for my father for bike week (I HATE RESTURANTS) because my insurance, regitration, and tires are due. Praying to god I get some drunk bikers that like cars and tip well. |
