Remember Chernobyl?

Let me warn you up front. You WILL sit with a distant look in your eyes, saying nothing for a couple of minutes after taking this trip through the ghosttown of Chernobyl.. I know i did.

1986:

Very interesting and thanks for sharing. The author must have traveled to the region quite a bit. She has that look and complexion on her face, like someone been close to radioactive materials one time too many.

Just really how safe it is to travel to that region? I can't be sure with long exposure in there is heathy for anybody. Even just for couple of hours. Those stuff has a half life of 2,000 years for God's sake.

Almost feel like taking a shower immediately after looking through the links

Wow!

I've seen photos like this...as a younger kid I was obsessed with the Chernonbyl disaster, researched everything I could.

The town is Pripyat, and the Carnival rides have been there since May 1986.

Amazing how one man fat fingering a command can permanently alter the destiny of thousands of lives!
