A finite supply of money only goes so far, and therefore doesnt need to be going to un-necessary (& unconstitutional) expenditures.

Its a good thing individual citizens dont run their checkbooks like the .gov does. It would be really cool to just write checks for whatever I wanted no matter the cost. I could have my own carrier fleet with a battleship squadron as support with half of Texas's oil in the first half hour. Ooooh, I want to be a government now. Come on, just for a day? An hour? Pllleeeeeaaasssseeeee?:p

This reminds me of Ross Perot in '92. "Gub'ment should run like a bidness!' That made a lot of sense to a lot of people.

So all the liberals should be voting for Bush this coming election.......................

Now read carefully: Those who are in power wish to "!CONSERVE!" their power. Those out of power wish to "!LIBERALIZE!" the government such that it will include them.

So...now this is the hard part so watch my lips I say this....when Clinton sought pwer he was trying to expand gov definition to include his agenda--liberal. Once elected he wished to CONSERVE his status quo against the assault of Dole, who sought to LIBERATE the government.

The Vince Foster stuff makes as much sense from you as it does any other conspiracy theorist.

While the US right wing, prides itself in the critique of Soviet communism, the first people to blow the whistle on the Bolshevik revolution were libertarian leftists like Alex Berkman, Emma Goldman and Petr Kropotkin in the teens and 20's.

Botnst 04-17-2004 07:11 PM

Yep, and were completely ignored by everybody. Ignored by our left who saw Emma &tc as out of line and ignored by our right because they were genuine commies and indistinguishable (by the right) from totalitarians.

Our "moderate left" continued sucking-up to the Soviets for another 20 years, ignoring the gulag, Trotsky's assassination, mass starvations, etc. The NY Times, that bastion of psuedo-liberality, won Pulitzers for reporting damn lies from the Soviets, as truth. To my knowledge, neither Pulitzer nor the Times have repudiated them.

Exactly why Chomsky, the inheritor of the Goldman's and Berkman's libertarianism, never tires of criticising the biases of the NYT. His position is that the NYT continues the same editorial policies into the present.

...oh, well that explains the cover story in yesterday's paper about Michael Jackson's 3 legged alien love child. Two paragraphs into the article, it mentioned that the RNC had been funneling money through MJ's Neverland Ranch in an effort to launder money and finance the impending alien invasion. I'm pretty smart though--I can smell a political smear-job a mile away. Nice try DNC!

On Non-Fiscal Issues, you rank as a Strong Conservative (81).
On Fiscal Issues, you rank as a Strong Conservative (86).

How about this quiz?

http://www.self-gov.org/quiz.html

My results:

According to your answers, your political philosophy is libertarian.

Libertarians are self-governors in both personal and economic matters. They believe government's only purpose is to protect people from coercion and violence. They value individual responsibility, and tolerate economic and social diversity.

Your Personal Self-Government Score is 90%.
Your Economic Self-Government Score is 100%.

Scores falling on the centrist border are counted as centrist.

It's amazing. I couldn't relate to the first quiz. I knew there was more. I wasn't mapped correctly.

Look at the map on the second quiz. Where is socialism and facsism? It is not either extreme liberalism or extreme conservitism, but...

Left-authoritarians are also called socialists, while fascists are right-authoritarians.

Zeitgeist 04-18-2004 12:21 AM

...a bit simplistic, but what the hell, Ron sez I'm just supposed to have fun with it.

Your Personal Self-Government Score is 90%.
Your Economic Self-Government Score is 20%.

Your Economic Self-Government Score is 50%

I always strive for consistancy.... oh well.

I'm surprised you guys were so close...

Botnst 04-18-2004 08:59 AM

I cheated. I used the old, "W.W.Z.D.?" credo.

kerry 04-18-2004 10:23 AM

Left liberal.
Your Personal Self-Government Score is 100%.
Your Economic Self-Government Score is 10%.

I think the political test we did about six months ago was better than either of these.
