Just some more info on the car....engine was replaced with a factory replacement at some point. Pretty sure the car has less than 100k on it.

Timing chain replaced with interesting results

Hi all.

So me and buddy rolled in a new timing chain on the 220d this weekend.

We started with the cam marks lined up with a reading of 5 ATDC on the balancer.….rotated the engine several times...

Hi all

So I noticed that there is what looks like a throttle body on my 73 220d which through me off for a while because I didn't think diesels had a throttle body...........and they don't AFAIK....

My Jetta TDi wagon 5spd does it in like 11 or 12.
The 220d 4spd will do it in 27.5 according to Road & Track.

Another thing to look out for is a broken power...

Another thing to look out for is a broken power steering pump bracket.
It's not uncommon for these to break where they bolt to the front of the engine.....or so I've read.

Mine was broken there...
