I'm planning to. There's a station in my town that sells 5% BD and I'm going to try it after they process my application. Are you using it? I know there are people here running on WVO but that's not the same.

I'm also planning on BioDiesel. I going to go the homebrew route, and am currently collecting the pieces to make a processor.

b100 biodiesel in both the cars listed below. quieter engine; smoother running and less clatter. Reduced smoke to almost nothing. Replace your fuel filters after the first few tanks as biodiesel will eat any nasties in your fuel system and deposit the crud in the filters.... or the tank screen if you are unlucky.
check out
http://biodiesel.infopop.cc for TONS about biodiesel and just regular vegetable oil use as well.

There's a pump KINDA near me that sells good ol' ohio soybean B20. I gonna give it a try when I figure out where it is and when I get the chance.

Anyone in ohio know where it is in delaware?

Why screw around with making/using biodiesel? IDI engines like the one in your 300D will run just fine on filtered and heated WVO.

djugurba, where do you get B100? How are your fuel hoses holding up? I read that just about the only drawback of BD is that it will eat rubber hoses quicker.

All of my vehicles are using a 50:50 or 25:75 blend of biodiesel / vegetable oil.
I am given adequate waste veg-oil for my family's fuel needs.
I filter to 5 micron (hot oil) and again (cold oil) to remove any high melting point tallows from the oil. This allows me to operate at lower temperatures without significant heating of the blend.

I plan to have a heated aux tank built for veg-oil and use Heated fuel lines to/from the engine, where a solenoid valve will select fuel source and return tank. I will then be able to use the high melting point tallows I have been filtering from the veg-oil.

Been burning it in the pickup for over four years now and the TDIs for 2.5 and 3.5 years. Just got the 300TD a few weeks ago. The MB came to us with more than a half tank of the Devil`s Tea (stinky stuff to my nose) so after a hundred miles or so I topped it off with B100. I thought the car ran and sounded great up to that point but after the B60 or so blend reached the engine it calmed and quieted down in a real and measurable way. Smells great now too! :p

After half a tank I can see some desolved petro-crud in the prefilter so I`m gonna keep an eye on it and change out both filtes after a few tanks of B100. The inter-injector lines will be replaced with Viton next weekend. We plan on keeping this magnificent vehicle till it won`t run any more. The change to a vegitarian diet should give it a few more years of service.

Ditto. Tuned my injectors for WVO/Bio mix (little higher pop press - had to comp with IP timing offset, but worth it.)

Looking for a place to set back up the Boulder Biodiesel processor and get it up and running. We've been offered 6,000 gallons of WVO a month, want to take advantage of it NOW!!

I think the place is called world energy, and it is a bit north of town. That was the closest for me when I lived in Wooster. They used to have b100... check either the biodiesel.com/.org?
page or the biodieselnow.com station finder- I think they were on the list.

We've got a biodiesel users group down here, and we're slowly becoming organized to buy in bulk. BUT, there is a commercial pump at S.A. White Oil in Marrietta, b100. I think this biodiesel is made from waste stock; they get it from United. We've had some quality concerns about it, and the prices fluctuate for no good reason.

look here: http://www.vegenergy.com This is the place our efforts are being concentrated. Rob, the owner of this joint, is fronting a lot of the effort to buy the quantity stuff and let us get it for his cost. He has even started delivering 55 gal drums. He has appointment only fueling at his building as well.

Fuel hoses are as-yet problem free, and that's with 6 months under the belt. I did replace the injector return lines because they were weepy prior to the switchover. I have to replace the return to tank line on the 300D sooner or later, because it is actually a braided rubber hydraulic brake line from a truck patched in there (and working quite well) that I got at a truck stop when I first bought the car. original would not have survived the trip. The understanding I have regarding biodiesel and NATURAL rubber is that it is actually unreacted methanol in the system that can do the damage. There is considerable debate on this issue, so I'm being cautious. I'm watching for any breakdown, and have a couple of samples of most of the types of hose sitting in a little jar of biodiesel (not a lab test, heating/cooling not done) and they dont seem slimy or unusual compared to the ones sitting in veggie or petrodiesel. My MBs have mostly solid fuel lines (solid fuel? ha ha) rigid metal lines that is... so not too much rubber around to go wrong. But they have a few hidden bits that I am sure will be the first to go when I need to be somewhere... But I think that the miles and miles most on this board have traveled without issue is proof enough to enter the testing grounds.

I'm about a month or so from SVO conversion, then this pricey biodiesel will be for start/stop only.

Does anyone know if BD has the ability to dissolve soot and clean injectors? I've read that it can dissolve crud in a storage tank, but that's probably something else.
